@tombibbys@andrewho03 Trying to get people fired for their personal views is gross. Economic disempowerment is essential for full automation and a high UBI. It isn't the same as an x-risk.
@ESYudkowsky Having clear criteria seems so much better than just saying "we won't sell to you if you might resell to China." We need good relations with China! They might implement effective safety standards. If you are worried about authoritarian/communist takeover or something, then say it
@Noahpinion Isn't this just an r > g thing? Asset prices will always rise faster than economic growth due to myopia/time value of money. So you need wealth redistribution.
@DKThomp Claude is bad value for money imo. Sometimes more than human labor. I wonder if people will start shifting to Kimi/Grok/Meta because of the price.

@VishalYesudas@DAcemogluMIT He could transfer the shares to the charities and set up a contract such that they can never sell them and only spend future dividends.
@KelseyTuoc@AlexGodofsky If this is true, maybe day care is a bigger risk than continuous boarding school and summer camp. It seems sad, as people can be very busy when their child is first born, but maybe they can't easily make up for that time later.
@KelseyTuoc@AlexGodofsky Based on my experience and that of my boarding school friends, I agree that kids need at least one unconditional loving relationship, and it is sometimes missing in boarding school families. However, I believe it can be achieved without that much time together.
@KelseyTuoc@AlexGodofsky I can find it later, but the research that I've seen suggests children benefit most from time with their parents before the age of six or so. Once they are in school, it seems quantity is less important than feeling loved and supported, etc
@KelseyTuoc@AlexGodofsky Wanting to spread your DNA, bring meaning to your life, continue a mini dynasty, and/or have adults who care about you when you're old without interacting with children seems plausibly rational.
