Ben is a PhD student in Jeff Bowman's lab where he sequences every DNA found in brines. Ben helped out at the conference and had the idea for the original astro surfer dude (our little pin!).

Laela professionally hunts down viruses in Lisa Zeigler Allen's lab and also occasionally catches a virus from her son Jacques' daycare. Laela has been coordinating swag and graphics and the whole event.

Alex is a UCSD PhD student in biophysics and studies wide range of topics dynamical systems theory in biology.
At abgradcon, Alex has been a huge help in running everything smoothly and picking up all the little things that need to be done.
Head Organizer Spotlight: Miguel Desmarais @ATGATAGGC
Miguel is a second year PhD student in the Bartlett lab and studies microbes in the deep ocean. Dealing with high pressure conditions at AbGradCon came natural to him and he organized every stage of the event!
