In mid-2025 (June-July), when a major agreement seemed within reach, President Trump attempted to push Prime Minister Modi hard for concessions. 🚨 Even by November 2025, negotiations were advancing, but India's firm rejection of the F-35 deal caused the talks to collapse, leaving the US trade team disappointed and empty-handed. 💥

America's key demands included:

1) Halting purchases of Russian energy and weapons 🔴
2) Deepening ties with the US military-industrial complex 🤝
3) Opening up India's agriculture and dairy markets to American companies 🌾🥛

PM Modi stood resolute, rejecting all these conditions. 🇮🇳 In response, the US ramped up pressure: probing Reliance over Russian oil dealings, pursuing DoJ actions against Adani, tightening H1B visas and immigration rules impacting Indian tech firms, and deploying officials like Bessent and Navarro to target India. 🎯

The White House reacted strongly to the Tianjin SCO Summit, expressing alarm that India and Russia were drifting closer to China. 😠 This frustration reportedly sparked a brief but significant Putin-Modi discussion.

Reports of Trump's intentions to challenge Modi politically surfaced, but leaked intelligence from the Kremlin exposed the strategy—leading, in my view, to Trump's abrupt shift toward reconciliation. 🔄

Yet the pressure persists, as India now stands as the primary obstacle to full US dominance in the Indo-Pacific. 🌏 Breaking India's independent stance could weaken BRICS unity and Russia's position significantly—so Washington sees us as the key target! 🛡️

Fast forward to 2026: Relations remain strained after India secured multiple new FTAs, defied Trump's demands, hosted Putin with full honors, inked the RELOS pact (granting Russian vessels access to the Indian Ocean Region), and advanced ties with China through Moscow's mediation. ✈️🚢

Trump requested a call with Modi to announce a grand agreement, but Modi declined the spotlight. India firmly conveyed that the July 2025 proposal was our final offer—take it or leave it! ⏳

A call did occur in November 2025 between the leaders. While PM Modi publicly noted it, the White House and President remained silent on the matter. 📞🤫
