It’s not about radiating heat, which it won’t (needs bigger radiators). It’s about:
- surviving launch (maybe)
- surviving 5 years in space (solar flares, drastic temp variation blah blah)
- transfer of data (ai chip is useless if it can’t access the damn data)
- basic stupid first grade economics (one failed launch drags cost, right now that ain’t looking good)
- trust me bro stats - dude where is the damn roadster or full self driving from NYC to SFO. Solve terrestrial problems first, then go extra
Okay this is genuinely insane.
SpaceX just unveiled a satellite whose only job is to run AI. Not internet. Not GPS. Just compute, floating in orbit.
It's called AI1, and the reason behind it breaks your brain.
AI data centers on Earth are hitting a wall, not a chip wall, a physics wall.
They need staggering amounts of power and water just to stay cool, and we're running out of grid and land to build them.
So Musk's answer is: stop building them on Earth.
In orbit, the sun never sets. Free power, 24/7. No water for cooling, you just radiate heat into the vacuum of space. The two things choking AI on the ground barely exist up there.
And here's the wild part: Musk says it's easier to build than a Starlink satellite. Strip out the complex antennas and it's "a lot of solar cells, a radiator, and some laser links."
One AI1 carries the compute of an Nvidia GB300 rack, the same hardware data centers fight over down here.
AI1 is just the first one. The plan is a constellation of up to a million of them.
And the timing isn't an accident, SpaceX goes public this week at a ~$1.75 trillion target. This isn't a rocket company anymore. It's positioning itself as the power grid for AI, in space.
The race for AI compute just left the planet. Literally.

I rolled over.
And I went back to sleep.
Let me explain.
We just hired a new Junior Dev. Top of his class. Great LeetCode score. Knows the difference between var, let, and const.
One problem.
He thinks "on-call" means "escalate to the Tech Lead."
He thinks safety nets build character.
He sent me a Slack message at 3:15 AM.
"Hey, the pager has been ringing for a minute. It looks bad."
I didn't check the logs. I didn't open my laptop.
I replied: "So ack it."
He typed back, "But I don't have context on this service."
I said, "You get context by fixing it."
Then I put my phone on Do Not Disturb.
I put on my headphones.
I blasted "Can't Stop the Psyop" on max volume.
Real nerds listen to UwU Underground while the database locks up.
It's the soundtrack of champions.
Here's what people don't understand about Senior Engineering:
You don't become a Senior Engineer by reading documentation.
You become a Senior Engineer by staring into the abyss while the CEO is texting you.
We aren't building a coddled environment.
We are building warriors.
If we have another July 2024 CrowdStrike incident? So be it.
If the stock price dips? The market will correct.
If the servers melt? Buy new metal.
I told my VP, "I'm not answering the pager anymore."
She said, "That sounds reckless."
I said, "You know what's reckless? Letting a Junior Dev think help is coming."
I went into the PagerDuty configuration.
I deleted the escalation policy.
There is no Tier 2. There is no Tier 3.
I hardcoded the Junior Dev's ID into every schedule.
He is always on-call.
Even when he sleeps. Especially when he sleeps.
He solved the outage at 5:30 AM. He was shaking. He was traumatized.

The lesson?
You can teach syntax.
You can teach architecture.
But you cannot teach the adrenaline of a Sev-1 outage.
Panic is the ultimate mentor.
Deploy accordingly.
Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees.
$30 per seat per month.
$1.4 million annually.
I called it "digital transformation."
The board loved that phrase.
They approved it in eleven minutes.
No one asked what it would actually do.
Including me.
I told everyone it would "10x productivity."
That's not a real number.
But it sounds like one.
HR asked how we'd measure the 10x.
I said we'd "leverage analytics dashboards."
They stopped asking.
Three months later I checked the usage reports.
47 people had opened it.
12 had used it more than once.
One of them was me.
I used it to summarize an email I could have read in 30 seconds.
It took 45 seconds.
Plus the time it took to fix the hallucinations.
But I called it a "pilot success."
Success means the pilot didn't visibly fail.
The CFO asked about ROI.
I showed him a graph.
The graph went up and to the right.
It measured "AI enablement."
I made that metric up.
He nodded approvingly.
We're "AI-enabled" now.
I don't know what that means.
But it's in our investor deck.
A senior developer asked why we didn't use Claude or ChatGPT.
I said we needed "enterprise-grade security."
He asked what that meant.
I said "compliance."
He asked which compliance.
I said "all of them."
He looked skeptical.
I scheduled him for a "career development conversation."
He stopped asking questions.
Microsoft sent a case study team.
They wanted to feature us as a success story.
I told them we "saved 40,000 hours."
I calculated that number by multiplying employees by a number I made up.
They didn't verify it.
They never do.
Now we're on Microsoft's website.
"Global enterprise achieves 40,000 hours of productivity gains with Copilot."
The CEO shared it on LinkedIn.
He got 3,000 likes.
He's never used Copilot.
None of the executives have.
We have an exemption.
"Strategic focus requires minimal digital distraction."
I wrote that policy.
The licenses renew next month.
I'm requesting an expansion.
5,000 more seats.
We haven't used the first 4,000.
But this time we'll "drive adoption."
Adoption means mandatory training.
Training means a 45-minute webinar no one watches.
But completion will be tracked.
Completion is a metric.
Metrics go in dashboards.
Dashboards go in board presentations.
Board presentations get me promoted.
I'll be SVP by Q3.
I still don't know what Copilot does.
But I know what it's for.
It's for showing we're "investing in AI."
Investment means spending.
Spending means commitment.
Commitment means we're serious about the future.
The future is whatever I say it is.

What I find most amusing in importing from abroad is, they charge the duty on the price of item plus shipping. How on earth does shipping cost picture into import duty? Charge import duty on items not the shipping method especially if it is clearly marked as shipping cost.

India’s 4W electric car market shifted into high gear in Jul’25 with ~17,448 EV registrations — a sharp 14% Month-on-Month (MoM) rise over Jun’25’s ~15,273 units. This surge reflects a market riding strong consumer confidence, richer product portfolios, and growing charging convenience across metros and Tier-1 cities. The month also saw a high-profile boost to EV visibility with @Tesla opening its second showroom in Delhi NCR, signaling deepening global interest in India’s e-mobility landscape. With more brands expanding lineups and infrastructure steadily improving, the sector’s momentum is edging it closer to mainstream adoption.
@Tataev retained its dominant lead, clocking ~6,658 EV registrations in July — a 25% jump over June. With offerings spanning mass to premium segments, Tata continues to command strong brand pull, holding a 38% market share.
@MGMotorIn posted ~5,777 units, also up 25% MoM, narrowing the gap with Tata. The brand’s expanding EV lineup is resonating strongly with urban buyers, cementing its #2 position at 33% share.
@Mahindra_Auto followed with ~3,199 units, seeing a slight dip from June but maintaining its third spot. Its BE 6 and XEV 9E series remain key drivers of interest in metro and upcoming EV markets.
@HyundaiIndia registered ~675 units in July, up from ~585 in June, boosted by early momentum for the Creta Electric.
@BYDCompany recorded ~543 units, a marginal decline from June, as it continues to strengthen its premium EV footprint.
In the luxury segment, @bmwindia grew to ~288 units while @MercedesBenzInd saw ~115, reflecting steady traction among aspirational buyers.
Overall, July’s performance reaffirms India’s EV growth story — momentum is building, competition is intensifying, and the journey toward deeper 4W EV penetration is charging ahead.
