Nothing to excite the market tbh.
January— majorly unaudited reports starts to drop that leads to a full year analysis of a company’s performance.
February & March — Audited Reports come in en masse and declaration of dividend commences.
April— people position for dividends generally if it has not closed and shortly towards the end Q1 results start to drop.
May — Q1 results drops and market reacts.
June— Nothing happens, aside from acquisitions news, polices and all, nothing to excite the market and hence heavy profit taking.
July— loss continues till results for Q2 (H1) starts to drops and markets start reacting.
August— most companies drop Q2 and then Dividend announcements for interim which wets the appetite more.
September— Cooling off is observed and profit taking occurs. (Dangote refinery would impact this September massively)
October— Heavy profit taking and market waits for Q3 results to come in. Which often starts October ending.
November — Q3 results drops and market reacts to the fillings
December — Often calm with profit taking on the horizon while waiting for the next year and Q4 results.
The market can swing based on various sentiment such as policy change, war, foreign government oversight or challenge, listing of a big company like dangote cement.
