@flyfoxpro@virgilwalker When I was a kid (big reader) I had encountered some words that I had no idea how to pronounce, but understood meanings from context clues. Facade was one. I pronounced it phonetically and even used it, but was corrected and felt very stupid then. Haha!
@flyfoxpro@virgilwalker I agree. Gauche is definitely an uncommon word now. Silhouette is more common and less forgivable. I am shocked extraordinary is a challenge.
Well, after research they will go as Bandito Josh and Tyler. Though this mom can sew a Clancy hat or crochet one, once my guy saw how expensive they were on Etsy, he decided they should change course. Still sweet and same meaning.
Hoping we can score tix for these two guys to see The Only Band In The World! They will have to come up with new alter egos for entrance to the show, but it will be worth it for the crowning jewel of senior yr memories. Their friendship is so Josh/Tyler |-/ #pleaseplaydeepcuts
@followmeinstead@twentyonepilots They switched to Bandito Josh and Tyler. I offered to make him a Clancy hat because they were ludicrously expensive on Etsy, but he said they would just switch it up. Same meaning, different outfits. In ways it will be sweeter :)
@followmeinstead@twentyonepilots Definitely!!! I think the boys are planning to go as torchbearer and Clancy because literally their friendship is like Josh and Tyler, so his buddy may have a knit hat on, but maybe not the entire time. ๐
@ostrachan I sent your article to my husband because I saw the movie twice (once with the directorโs edition playing in my ears, which was confusing, but interesting) and read the book once and he keeps saying it is โdisturbing.โ Makes me sad he wonโt watch it and see the absolute beauty.
@mattvanswol@ksorbs You can do it! It mostly takes willpower and love for your kids and what is best for them. Better if you live in a state where it isnโt as difficult, but it can be done! I regret nothing. Homeschooled pre-k through 9th for our oldest and 12th will be part homeschooled part uni.
@mattvanswol@ksorbs I am in the thick of it. We tried a school for last year and pulled our younger child out this year from bullying and our older child has two more weeks of part time (he was full time, but due to a teacher misconduct issue with him we dropped two classes). Homeschooling it is!
@niakatza@redheadranting I am reading it now! I love all the more in depth background info!! There is no way my daughter could have dealt with the death of his companions, though, so I am always quick to warn about it. She may have done ok with Rocky if I let her know he doesnโt die.
@niakatza@redheadranting What I have told people (2x viewer) is the scene where he wakes up and finds dead desiccated companions could be scary for a sensitive kid as could when you think the alien is dead. A kid was still crying 20 mins later. I love the movie and will watch it many more times!
@CoxonMark@mattvanswol@realchasegeiser@LABeachGal1 Socialization thing is complete nonsense. Everyone who meets my almost 18 year old says great things about him. Education-wise you could always do online schooling at Veritas Scholars Academy or a similar place. Great teachers and community, despite being online. High rigor.
