@gigi_nyc No; I’ve been wondering the same thing. So much better when we are able to make a full circuit. I’ve largely stopped going up the west side and stick to the south and east and other parts of the park. (South has been fantastic for birds.)
Hawks are nesting in the Unisphere again! The hawks mated in a nearby tree, then the male raced off to gather promising-looking garbage for their nest. @BirdQueens@AllianceForFMCP
I went looking for bald eagles and found 5 great blue herons (4 in each photo and one across the lake). Willow Lake, Flushing Meadow Park. @AllianceForFMCP@BirdQueens
@AlexaWeitzman @AllianceForFMCP@BirdQueens I had never heard of wingspan, so I looked it up. Thanks to you, I just asked for wingspan as a gift from my kids for my birthday! Sounds like a fun game.
I got a lifer on the first day of the year! A very loud belted kingfisher hanging out by Tide Gate Bridge. I’m hoping it’s a sign of an auspicious birding year ahead.

It’s a bird… it’s a tree… it’s a bird tree! Great egrets, snowy egrets, cattle egrets, tricolored herons, little blue herons, and white ibis filled the tees and within eyeshot, there were osprey and black-crowned night herons and feral Muscovy ducks. #boyntonbeach@BirdQueens
I was taking a walk in Flushing Meadow Park today when a red-tailed hawk swooped past me with its lunch and landed on a branch about twenty feet away. @AllianceForFMCP@BirdQueens
