The impact of this insitu simulation cannot be underestimated in addressing the current absence of training or guidance for the management of medical emergencies that occur in GP surgeries.
Looking forward to our oppotunity to present at #ASPiH2020 tomorrow with @Jolawrence94 on in situ simulation in General Practice. It looks to be a great couple of days!
Why is the IT in the NHS so appalling? How can we do our job properly when our computers keeps crashing & losing work? This is just one of a huge raft of #humanfactor issues for #GeneralPractice @hfecop @HumanFactorsPS@ClinicalHF
Very please to have started working with #patientchase to improve care for our patients with multimorbidity and to improve patient safety with medication reviews.
I was interested to hear that all staff in some surgeries are wearing home made masks in communal areas especially as social distancing is so difficult. This evidence supports this behaviour.
#COVIDWATCHIrl Apr 18 @mikey0callaghan w/ @UL@ICGPnews shows ROI has flattened the curve.
#1 ROI Case detection above Italy case detection helps identify community transmission.
#2 New Cases, New Hospitalisations, New ICU admissions & New Deaths. #StayatHome#OutOfHoursIsOpen
@mgtmccartney We should be planning for the aftermath, now. Just from a practical perspective, the acute and intensive areas wil be quieter once Covid is controlled and primary care and the non-acute will be overwhelmed by all those who have waited.
Asked for a date when correct PPE will be given to all workers, Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the “effort is moving in the right direction” but says:
“It’s impossible because the quest is to get the right PPE, to the right people, on the frontline"

Agree. Multiple human factor issues with PPE as well as much else in healthcare. GPs not even trained to don & doff what little equipment we have acquired. Every HCP infection saved would probably pay for each HFE expert.
@30banyans Thank you Liz. both managing GP emergencies and human factors in General Practice are unacknowledged unknowns. we will publish the results of our in situ simulation training, using checklists, later this year. Interesting results to follow!
Our online portal allows you to quickly and anonymously report the situation in your workplace which helps us build the fullest possible picture of the pressure points around the UK to ensure these are prioritised. Please tell us how things are for you: https://t.co/4o6Luzm8ST
'Please do not put healthcare workers in this situation'. @CNagpaul tells @BBCNews our members are still not getting the PPE they need, putting them in the impossible and unacceptable situation where they find themselves risking their lives going to work on the #COVID19 frontline
