@neilhimself This was the first comic of yours I ever bought, issue 8, back in 1989 at a newsstand (not even a comic shop) in Princeton NJ. Felt later this was the point when you made a turn— this touching, poignant, introspective issue.
@Millicentsomer I was contrarian at first, but it is great, esp. his pre-defense against most lines of attack. Maybe that annoyed the critic in you. Leaving the room and being on stage was his defense against false authenticity. He demonstrated the room was a metaphorical space.
@Millicentsomer I’d argue that the thrifty stereotype comes from Dickens’ anti-semitism (like Fagin, Jaggers, etc) of Ebenezer and the savvy bootstrap Scot part comes from A. Carnegie.
@auren@benedictevans@matthewclifford Kleiner in the 90’s was focused on their “keiretsu” which was moat building and network effects. I don’t think it led to great decisions.
