After more than 120 hours on the House floor, our sit-in is ending as session gavels out. But this isn’t the end of the story. It’s the start of a movement.
We leave the chamber knowing that change doesn’t come easy, but it always comes when people stand together, organize, and keep faith in the work ahead. What began here will continue in our neighborhoods, our churches, our schools, and our streets.
The sit-in is over, but the mobilization is just beginning.
📍Last week, Missouri introduced HB1, legislation that would redraw the state's congressional maps. Since then, the bill has received one vote of approval from the full House.
HB 1 is moving quickly. Keep up with FastDemocracy.

"We're still on the Missouri House Floor because democracy is worth the fight," said state Rep. Ray Reed. "The GOP is trying to rig our maps in the middle of the decade at Trump's demand." https://t.co/g7w44EfaEY

7 years ago today, 26-year-old Botham Jean was shot and killed in his own apartment by off-duty Dallas officer Amber Guyger, who claimed she mistook his home for hers. Botham deserved to live, to grow old, to thrive. Rest in Power, Bo.
70+ hours into our sit-in, we were welcomed over Zoom by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church more than 30,000 congregation members strong. 🙏🏾
It was an honor, and it was history. In this moment, with our democracy on the line, we felt the power of faith and community standing with us.
Republicans may try to silence Missourians with a Trump ordered gerrymander, but this movement is bigger than their politics. It’s about justice, it’s about history, and it’s about all of us choosing to rise together.
We are not alone in this fight and we’re not backing down.
Our Chairman Award recipient @kamalaharris gave us 107 days (and 30-plus years of service), so she deserves all the flowers our hands can hold. Congratulations #NAACPImageAwards#BET

“We really want to turn out the vote on or before election day,” said Alethea Bonello, an organizer with Black Voters Matter. “And in order to do that, we have to engage with the community. So the bus is just icing on the cake. But the hard work that our local partners have put in, they’ve been doing canvassing, phone backing, they’ve been going door to door, and they’re just really talking with the community about the importance of voting, as well as turning out to vote as well.”

“After racism, the biggest ill in America is sexism,” @jamalhbryant of @newbirthmbc told me after Vice President Harris’ visit to the church Sunday.
In his sermon, he told congregants “something is wrong with brothers who don’t now how to support a sister.”
It's always a good time to remember & honor the leaders who paved the way for our work, especially our founder Thurgood Marshall. ✨
This upcoming week will mark 57 years since he was confirmed to SCOTUS.
