அண்ணன் நெல் ஜெயராமன் மறைந்தபோது, அவர் மகனின் படிப்பு செலவை ஏற்பதாகச் சொன்னார் தம்பி சிவகார்த்திகேயன். இப்படிச் சொல்கிறவர்கள் அப்போதைக்கு உதவுவார்கள். அடுத்தடுத்த வருடங்களில் நாம் நினைவூட்டினால், கொஞ்சம் சலிப்பு காட்டிச் செய்வார்கள். பின்னர் மறந்தே போவார்கள். ஆனால், தம்பி சிவகார்த்திகேயன் சொன்ன சொல் தவறாமல் கடந்த 7 வருடங்களாக நெல் ஜெயராமன் மகன் சீனிவாசனின் படிப்பு செலவைக் கட்டி வருகிறார். பணம் கட்டுவது மட்டுமல்ல, ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் தேர்வு நேரத்தில் போன் செய்து விசாரிப்பார். அன்பும் அக்கறையுமாகப் பேசுவார்.

இந்த வருடம் சீனிவாசன், கல்லூரி படிப்பில் கால் வைக்கிறார். எந்தக் கல்லூரி, என்ன படிப்பு என்கிற விவரங்களை விசாரித்து, கோவை கற்பகம் கல்லூரியில் பேசி அவரைச் சேர்த்திருக்கிறார் சிவா. நெல் ஜெயராமன் உயிரோடு இருந்திருந்தால் மகன் சீனிவாசனின் படிப்புக்கு என்னவெல்லாம் செய்திருப்பாரோ, அதற்குக் கொஞ்சமும் குறைவில்லாமல் அக்கறை காட்டுகிறார் சிவகார்த்திகேயன். அப்பலோ மருத்துவமனையில் மருத்துவர்கள் கைவிரித்த நிலையில், பாண்டிச்சேரி படப்பிடிப்பில் இருந்து ஓடிவந்து, நெல் ஜெயராமனின் கைகளைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு, ‘நானிருக்கிறேன் அண்ணன்’ என சிவகார்த்திகேயன் நம்பிக்கை சொன்ன காட்சி, அப்படியே நெஞ்சுக்குள் விரிகிறது. நம்பிக்கையாகவே நின்று காட்டும் தம்பிக்கு நன்றி…
