Dear Artist @Broda_Kenny, thank you for your feedback.
Yesterday’s flooding was largely a flash flood triggered by several hours of intense rainfall. As is typical with flash floods, water levels have since receded in many affected areas. However, we are aware that some individuals are attempting to exploit the situation to advance a particular agenda.
Our priority remains the safety and well-being of Lagosians. We will continue to monitor vulnerable locations, respond promptly where necessary, and implement measures aimed at protecting lives and property while improving the state’s flood resilience.
Thank you!

I don’t think your parents should officially meet your partner till you know this is the person you actually want to settle down with & get married to. I’m so big on that. I can’t bring just ANYBODY to my parents.

DID YOU KNOW??
In Nigeria, the modern diet has shifted toward "heavy" processed carbohydrates and hidden sugars, leading to a massive spike in Type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Many staple food people consider "heavy" or "filling" are actually nutritionally empty, causing what nutritionists call "hidden hunger."
1. The "White" Culprits (Bread & Pasta)
Most bread in Nigeria is "Agege" style or white loaves, which are packed with potassium bromate (though banned, it still lingers, we know the country we live in!) and massive amounts of sugar to keep them soft. Similarly, pasta is refined wheat that spikes blood sugar almost instantly. Avoid them!
The Alternative? Boiled Unripe Plantain or Sweet Potatoes. Unripe plantain is a "resistant starch," meaning it digests slowly and won't give you that mid-day energy crash and potatoes are pretty healthy.
2. The "Semo" Trap
Semolina (Semo) is often marketed as a "light" alternative to Pounded Yam, but it is actually highly refined wheat flour. It has a high Glycemic Index (GI), meaning it turns into sugar in your bloodstream very quickly, diabetes is that you??
The Alternative? Acha (Fonio) or Oat Swallow. Fonio is an ancient African supergrain that is gluten-free and packed with amino acids. Oat swallow provides the fiber necessary for heart health. At the very least consider yellow garri 😅.
3. Alcohol & Soda (The Liquid Sugars)
In the Nigerian heat, chilled sodas and beer are staples. A single bottle of soda can contain up to 12 cubes of sugar. Over time, this causes fatty liver disease, avoid them!
The Alternative? Zobo (Hibiscus tea) or Kunu Aya (Tigernut milk). NOTE: Ensure the Zobo is made without added white sugar, use dates or pineapple skins for natural sweetness. Zobo is scientifically proven to help lower blood pressure, a very underrated drink or DRINK WATER! Nothing really beats water my people. 🤷🏾♂️😅
4. Shawarma & Pizza (The Calorie Bombs)
Nigerian-style Shawarma is often drenched in "creamy" mayo and sweetened ketchup, wrapped in refined flour. A single wrap can exceed 800 calories, nearly half your daily needs. It's killing you oooo!
The alternative? Grilled Fish with Ugba or Garnished Beans. If you crave that "wrap" feeling, try a homemade wrap using lettuce leaves or local cabbage as the shell. At the very least make things like shawarma and pizza a very rare addition to your diet.
Finally, one of the most important facts for 2026 is the danger of REUSED VEGETABLE OIL. Many street food vendors in Nigeria reuse oil for days, which creates polar compounds that are highly inflammatory. When choosing alternatives like Suya or Grilled Fish, always ensure the accompanying sides aren't deep-fried in old oil.... This is mostly impossible, so what does that mean? Try to cook this stuff at home and eat them outside sparingly!
Those food look enticing, but they bring you closer to death far more than you can imagine. And also remember avoid PROCESSED FOOD! Sausages, bacon, minced meat, sausages burger meat, sausages..... These stuff have links to carcinogens. I've warned you sha.
Hopefully you've learnt something new today?
Daalu 👍🏾 🙂
The Medic Who Writes™🌚
He is 31 years old
At nine months old, a failed measles injection by a local nurse caused avascular necrosis, leading to lifelong hip pain and leg weakness until his hip replacement surgery
Four of his siblings died in childhood (likely related to sickle cell trait in the family), making his survival a "statistical miracle"
At age 10, he dropped out of school due to poverty but returned after his mother worked as a cleaner for six years to pay his fees
He learned chess as a kid at a local barber's shop in a Lagos slum while playing video games with friends
Barely spoke English when he started secondary school (mostly Yoruba at home) but quickly picked it up from classmates
His mother was a petty trader (thrift clothes seller), and his father sold spare parts. They met in a Lagos market
Chess helped him develop a strong photographic memory, which he used to cram for exams and survive without parental allowances
He became Nigeria's No 13 ranked chess player and earned the National Master title at age 20
He won gold medals representing Yaba College of Technology in the Nigeria Polytechnic Games and the RCCG Chess Championship
He also won the National Friends of Chess Tournament and the Chevron Chess Open
He got a diploma in computer science and used chess winnings to support himself through school
Founded Chess in Slums Africa in September 2018 as a volunteer-driven nonprofit after visiting slums like Majidun
The organization has reached thousands of underprivileged kids, including producing a 10-year-old champion with cerebral palsy
Tunde Onakoya broke the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon (over 60 hours) in Times Square, New York, in 2024
Featured in CNN African Voices for his work
Tunde has a younger brother (two years apart)
He credits chess with saving him from slum poverty and giving him an "intellectual identity"
He once simultaneously won 10 chess games at the DLD Conference in Germany
First African to win the Lideramos Youth Award for Social Impact in Spain.
Won the Corporate Chess Championship in Malawi with a perfect 7/7 score
Tunde dreams of building the world's biggest chess institute in Nigeria

Tunde Onakoya has brought attention to Africa through Chess.
He started teaching chess at a younger age to children.
I'm talking of around 2013/2014 when he was meeting at parks around Lagos State, just to teach kids in the open (mostly after work hours)
.
.
Today, I am more interested in telling you more about him, and how he has also risen from a place of deep poverty and struggles.
He has done soooo much for people and it's only expected that these past impacts would show on him as well
You might have your reservations about him, but you cannot downplay how he used the game of chess to bring great changes to children's lives.
.
.
A lot of children now have access to education, purpose and meaning, thanks to Chess.
You are also part of his story. Tunde didn't do all these alone.
Your support, your accolades, your retweet, your reposts, everything
So look at the bigger picture.
Think of the kids whose lives have changed from taking alcohols and drugs on the streets of slums, to having regulated mental health and more purpose driven lives, due to Chess and the opportunity it brought.

Tunde can't certainly please everyone, and yes, there might be actions that many people would attribute to him being human.
But if children would smile again, because he created an opportunity for them to have their smiles again.... Then it's one of the best legacies anyone can ever have.
And you also can create your own legacy to which nations would applaud, recognise and help preserve 🫂
The sky is big enough for you, I and Tunde to shine and shine bountifully well ❤️

Have you ever seen a tweet that doesn't even concern you, but you immediately go to that person's profile and block them because you don’t want to see any more of their thoughts on your timeline ever again?
When I finished Uni and was awaiting NYSC, I planned to go into this business. I decided to make extensive inquiries, from those who sold the machine, those who are already doing the business, and those who operated it. Here's what I found:
1. The machine doesn't cost 2 million Naira if you're buying new. It costs about 3 to 4 million Naira for one that can mix only one bag of cement and 4 to 5 million for one that can mix two bags.
2. You can get a used one for 1.6 to 2 million Naira, but you'd better hope that the generator that accompanies it works well. I was told that the diesel generator is better than petrol because it's stronger and more resilient.
3. It is true that you can charge 80k to 100k per day for rent. But the responsibility of delivering the machine to the location where it will be used falls on you. So, if you charge 80k, you might use 30k to rent a truck that will help you transport it to the location. And even when you are willing to pay the 30k, you may not easily get a truck and will end up disappointing your clients. You can cut this cost and avoid the stress if you already own a truck.
4. You will need an operator who will help you operate it daily, and the operator charges 10 to 12k every day. In your best interest, get a trustworthy operator because some operators will connive with the other construction workers and lie to you that the machine was not used on some days. This means that they will not pay you on those days.
5. Many of those who own this business have contracts with the Ministry of Works or other agencies and private individuals embarking on large projects like estate and road construction. So, their machines are always in use. If you have no such contract, it might be difficult for you to get customers often and the machine will just sit idle most of the time.
6. With this information that I have provided for you, you can decide for yourself whether it's a business you want to consider or not.
Attached are two pictures that I took:
1. When I went to make an inquiry about the price. 2. When I approached some construction workers operating the machine to find out more about the business.
It took me until my second pregnancy to realize that nausea and vomiting is a result of a vitamin b6 deficiency. But women are sold the narrative that it's just normal and something to go through.
@swag_lukarz And there’s a man just like her, same age, doing well, and single, but nobody assumes something is wrong with him. It's interesting how that works huh...
I don’t wait to feel motivated.
I just start, even if it’s small, and let consistency do the rest.
Plus, when I look at my toned body and glute, I just love what I see.
People will always talk regardless.
Losing weight is a personal decision, and everyone has their own reasons for it.
It’s really nobody else’s business.
Just do what’s best for you and ignore the noise; they will move on.
I hate addressing stuff but might as well address the weight loss once and for all so we can all move on.
I trained and ran a marathon. A lot of people will never know how grueling that is but it’s basically running a total of 50km and above on some weeks.
@Dabrizee She knows.
My mom told me that women these days have sorted out means to appease Alekwu when they commit. Hence, we hardly hear anyone die from infidelity these days..
Na who know road dey commit in peace.
