@Bird3r@NTBirdClub@DurhamBirdClub@RareBirdAlertUK Great to meet you and your chauffeurย yesterday! ๐ I'm glad you were still focusing and on the look out when the Hume's Warbler returned, unlike the rest of us! Good luck on your next trip.
Nice to be back to walking through Roundhay Park in calmer and sunnier weather this morning. A highlight, as the sun came up, was this vocal Grey Wagtail who kept taking a rest on the wires at the dam overspill. @ForpLeeds
@leedsbirder Had kept meaning to ask if many people were seeing Blackcaps. We had a pair of them just before Christmas but no sign of them so far this year. Will keep an eye out.
Black-Headed Gulls are the more prominent gull species in the park. There a few Herring and Common Gulls mixed in but this much rarer Mediterranean Gull has been "strutting" on Soldier's Fields the last few days eating worms! A great find by Tony S. @ForpLeeds@eckersley_joe
@eckersley_joe@leedsbirder@ForpLeeds@Natures_Voice Seemed to be an absence of Nuthatches today after hearing a fair few over the last week or so. Found one in the Churchyard. But generally quiet around lunchtime.
@eckersley_joe@tykelister Keep chipping away! Tawny Owls near us have seemed a bit quieter during the snow and colder weather. Although two the other night were screaming at each other to the point I was convinced they were being attacked or fighting. Never heard anything like it but couldn't find them.
@eckersley_joe@ForpLeeds The Teal were hiding under the trees on Waterloo Lake island yesterday. Good to see everything returning after the freeze. For some reason I worried nothing would come back! Scaup next....
@eckersley_joe@tykelister@BirdGuides@RareBirdAlertUK@leedsbirder@WildFozzy@ForpLeeds No sign of the Scaup at first light this morning, having had a quick dash around the lake. It's largely frozen though now, especially at the island end. Two Teal are right in the corner at the outlet from the top lake. The flow is stopping a small pool of water from freezing!
