this may be a hot take, but I do think one step in combatting AI is straight up eliminating grades. No matter what else you do or change, as long as we structure our education around getting grades, students are trained to see knowledge as a means to an end, not an end in itself.
Both parts of this statement – that as the Pope he would speak personally rather than as a doctrinaire, and the beautiful grace of the thought itself – reflect a mature and inspiring theology, unique in my lifetime among major religious leaders. May his memory be a blessing 🕊️
