It was 2015, just after graduation. I had just returned to Abuja after surviving UNIBEN.
I had a neighbour who worked at NRS (formerly FIRS). He had always been kind to me, and we used to talk about life whenever I came home during holidays. So when I finished school, I felt it was the right time to approach him about job opportunities.
Around that same time, a friend of mine came back with me from school. He didn’t want to return to Kaduna immediately, so he asked if he could stay with me for a week. He also wanted to use the opportunity to see his girlfriend in Abuja. I spoke to my parents, and they agreed.
When I spoke to my neighbour, he asked me to prepare my CV and bring a hard copy, as they were looking to hire. I mentioned my friend to him, and he said he could also submit his CV.
We both prepared our CVs and planned to visit him together so I could introduce my friend properly.
One Tuesday night, we went to his house, but he wasn’t around. I called him, but he didn’t pick. Later, he sent a message saying he had travelled and would be back on Thursday.
Unfortunately, I had to travel to Delta State on Thursday for personal reasons, while my friend was scheduled to return to Kaduna on Friday.
So I gave my CV to my friend and asked him to submit both his and mine to my neighbour when he returned. I had already informed my neighbour that my friend would come on my behalf, and he agreed.
I travelled.
When I got to Delta, I called my friend again to remind him. I had also confirmed that my neighbour was back in Abuja.
That evening, around 9pm, my friend went to submit the CVs and told me he had done so. The next day, he travelled back to Kaduna.
Everything seemed fine.
Until I returned to Abuja.
My neighbour called me and asked:
“Why did you change your mind about working with the government?”
I was confused. I said "as how naw?"
He then told me that the CVs submitted were for my friend and his girlfriend.
Mine was not included.
According to him, my friend said I wanted to go to law school first and maybe do some private practice before considering working with his agency.
My neighbour even showed me the CVs.
Mine was not there.
I called my friend.
His response?
“You know your parents are still alive… mine are not. Plus na only me my babe get. I just feel say job no go hard you get na why… abeg no vex.”
That was it.
Harrison… I hope this post goes viral and that you somehow come across it wherever you may be at the moment.
So you can see yourself clearly for the evil that you are.
A slightly long read, but I implore your patience 🙏🏽
On this day, 3years ago, the lives of millions of Nigerians changed from bad to worse.
We lost counts of the death toll.
Many lost their source of livelihood from international companies leaving, to personal businesses folding due to alarming cost of operations and meager patronage.
Some families have been left forever traumatized from losing loved ones to kidnappers, and terrorists, even after selling everything they owned to pay ransom.
Education is at its lowest, as tuition tripled with deceit of the NELFUND loan shark of a government.
Electricity became an opportunity for classism, with fraudulent different bands. It became both unavailable and unaffordable.
‘Epileptic’ suddenly became less a word to describe our national grid.
Without proper prior preparations and notice, cost per litre of petrol spiked from N198/L to N500/L, and N1350/L today.
I know this stoic government are banking on our usual amnesia on Election Day in January, 2027, but please while considering your stomach, think of your children and grandchildren.
What will be left of Nigeria if we continue like this???
If the cost of compromise were immediate and unavoidable, far more people would dread dishonour more than hardship.
Many people only avoid wrongdoing when the consequences are fast and painful. Without that instant feedback, integrity feels optional to a lot of folks.
i was tweeting normally, then I posted about my research that was selected at the highest level of conference for Obs and Gynae in Europe... I saw a fellow doctor here Dr Chichi who also had hers selected. We exchanged contacts
Omo, I was single then... just waiting for the right person after a previous failed relationship.
She introduced me to her friend.
Cut the long story short. Friend is my wife!
Moral lesson: Keep posting your banger posts, you may see wife or husband soon, all you bloody singles!
This nursing mother was recorded by the terrorists after they were abducted few days ago in Oyo state.
The terrorists have since then beheaded one teacher and they still have 46 children brutally held up in a cave somewhere.
Let the whole world see this.
Reputational self-preservation often creates a domino effect: the moment one influential player adopts a firm ethical position, others quickly follow suit to avoid being perceived negatively. That appears to be the dynamic unfolding here.
There’s something deeply suspicious about the sudden wave of Nigerian celebrities making emotional videos and shedding tears over insecurity. The timing, the coordinated outrage, the selective silence before now… something about it feels very off.
It finally hit home. My brothers inlaw (mum wife) was kidnapped on Friday. Her first son was killed too. Took along 2 grandchildren.
I’m exhausted. I’m exhausted
@yabaleftonline There's nothing wrong in working as a waiter... The only wrong thing there is you having to work as one, after all the lifestyles you've displayed online.... It seems like you went from Grace to Grass
I met this lady in Jos. She brakes rocks for a living. I asked her how much she makes from doing this, and she said N50k per tipper.
I shock!
This is gross exploitation. I was angry on her behalf. N50k????

You can leave your career for a man, follow him to a desert to live, risk your life to bring his offsprings to this world, change your surname, forfeit employment opportunities.. and they still won't think you sacrificed anything
The only sacrifices they recognize is monetary.
