This isn’t a new idea in fact the S͟hīʿa themselves agree with this.

Niʿmat Allāh al-Jazāʾirī said:

“Another point regarding this, I do not know except that I saw it mentioned in some reports, is that, in summary, we have not united with them [the Sunnis] upon a god, nor upon a prophet, nor upon an imam.

This is because they say that their Lord is the one whose prophet was Muḥammad and whose successor after him was Abū Bakr, whereas we do not affirm this lord nor that prophet.

Rather, we say: the lord whose prophet’s successor is Abū Bakr is not our Lord, and that prophet is not our prophet.”
