Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihir Raji'un!
I received with sadness the news of the demise of Alh Usman Gorau, the father of Member representing Gada/Goronyo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bashir Usman Gorau, who has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown of Gorau...
Today, my family and I stand in quiet reflection with Nigerians across the country to remember the courage and sacrifice of our Armed Forces.
We salute our fallen heroes who gave their lives in service to our nation, and we deeply appreciate the men and women who continue to wear the uniform with honour, discipline, and steadfast resolve. Their bravery and sense of duty are the pillars upon which our peace, security, and unity rest.
Nigeria owes you a debt that words can never fully repay. We remain grateful for your loyalty, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to our nation. -AWT

Still in reflection of my stewardship, as themed at my 60th birthday colloquium, “Leadership, Service and Statesmanship,” I remain convinced that leadership must be deliberate, inclusive, and fair.
During my tenure as Governor of Sokoto State, this conviction guided my approach to governance, particularly in ensuring that women and youths were given their rightful positions in government. Inclusiveness was therefore pursued deliberately and reflected in decisions such as the appointment of three female commissioners to key and sensitive ministries, a departure from the long-standing practice of confining women to the Ministry of Women Affairs alone.
We also ensured that at least three female councillors served in each local government area, with about five in Tambuwal Local Government Area, bringing the total number of female councillors to 71.
In addition, we appointed seven female Permanent Secretaries and nine female Directors-General, alongside a significant number of women serving on boards, and as Special Advisers and Assistants.
I remain firmly of the view that inclusive governance at all levels is fundamental to nation building and sustainable national development. – AWT
I have noted the reports concerning an airstrike carried out as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts through cooperation between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United States. I urge our communities to remain calm and law abiding as relevant authorities clarify the circumstances surrounding the operation.
I wish to assure the people of Sokoto South that I am in active talks with relevant security authorities to obtain full details and ensure that all necessary safeguards are upheld.
It is important to reassure the public that counterterrorism operations are targeted at criminal and terrorist elements who threaten our collective safety, and not at innocent civilians who are themselves victims of insecurity. The protection of civilian lives remains paramount and remains central to all legitimate security operations.
I commend the courage and professionalism of our military and security forces, who continue to work tirelessly, often in collaboration with international partners, to confront terrorism and banditry under extremely challenging conditions. Their sacrifice and commitment to restoring peace and stability deserve our full support and cooperation.
I also call on community leaders, traditional institutions, and residents to continue working closely with security agencies by sharing credible information and resisting misinformation that could heighten fear or tension.
Together, through unity, vigilance, and support for lawful security efforts, we will overcome the forces of terror and secure lasting peace for Sokoto State and Nigeria at large. -AWT
I was privileged to be part of a family delegation led by Khalifa Buhari Ibrahim and Waziri Usman Maccido to Bauchi to offer condolences on the passing of the revered Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
While alive and in good health, the Sheikh maintained a cherished tradition of visiting our parents and spiritual leaders in Tambuwal every year. This bond reflected his deep respect for scholarship, lineage and spiritual continuity.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a towering figure, a great scholar and an exceptional spiritual leader whose teachings and sermons shaped minds, strengthened faith and guided generations across the country and beyond. His life was devoted to the service of knowledge, humility and the unity of the Ummah.
His passing is a profound loss, but his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled. May Almighty Allah (S.W.T) forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and continue to comfort all those he has left behind. -AWT
With deep respect and profound admiration, I celebrate a distinguished icon of our national history, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd), as you attain the remarkable age of 87.
Few individuals have carried the weight of Nigeria’s destiny on their shoulders with such courage, clarity and unwavering patriotism as you have. Your service in the armed forces, your role in preserving national unity during critical moments of our history, and your lifelong commitment to the peace and security of our nation stand as a testament to leadership anchored in honour.
Beyond the uniform and the battlefield, you have become a guardian of national values, investing in education, empowering communities, championing justice and supporting generations of emerging leaders. Today, I join millions of Nigerians at home and abroad to celebrate a towering figure of our national journey, a repository of wisdom, and a father to generations. Alhaji Tanko Yakasai attains the remarkable age of 100 years, and we are privileged to witness this moment with gratitude to the Almighty.
At a century of life, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai remains a living archive of our collective history. He has walked through the seasons of Nigeria nationhood, from pre-independence activism to the birth of the republic, through eras of reform, struggle, and renewal. With courage and clarity, he contributed to the shaping of the nation we call home.
Baba Yakasai is among the few who remain relevant across generations. While many live long, only a select few spend their years in service to society. His longevity is not in number alone but in influence and legacy. He represents resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the unity of Nigeria.
As he marks 100 years today, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to grant him good health, peace, and fulfilment. May He reward his sacrifices, forgive his shortcomings, and preserve the light of his wisdom for generations to come. His life is a reminder that leadership is service and that true greatness is defined by impact.
Nigeria celebrates you. The North honours you. History remembers you.
Happy 100th birthday Baba Alhaji Tanko Yakasai. -AWT
I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose life was defined by piety, devotion and service to humanity.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was more than a scholar. He was a guide, a teacher, a reformer and a bridge-builder whose voice inspired generations across Nigeria and beyond. His contributions to the growth of Islam, moral discipline, peaceful coexistence and spiritual enlightenment will remain enduring pillars of our collective memory.
Throughout his life, he exemplified humility, compassion and unwavering commitment to spreading knowledge. His teachings strengthened communities, healed divisions and reminded us of the timeless values of faith, patience and righteousness. Nigeria has lost an irreplaceable light, and the Muslim Ummah has lost one of its most respected spiritual leaders.
At this moment of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Darikar Tijjaniyya community, his countless students and all who were touched by his remarkable life. We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his lifelong service, illuminates his grave and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus.
May his legacy continue to guide us toward peace, unity and devotion to the service of humanity. -AWT
