A Gurgaon man earns ₹40 lakh a year, drives a BMW, lives comfortably, and still says he feels poor.

This is the real modern poverty. Not lack of money. Lack of contentment. A person can be in the top 1% of earners and still feel like a failure because comparison has become a full-time job.

Earlier, people used to compare themselves with their neighbours. But now they are comparing themselves to startup founders, influencers, and people showing their best 1% moments online every day. The target keeps moving, so satisfaction never arrives.

This is exactly what social media has done to an entire generation.

The richest people today are the ones who can sleep peacefully without needing validation from strangers on the internet.

दिल्ली के जवाहरलाल नेहरू स्टेडियम में भारतीय सूचना सेवा अधिकारी संघ द्वारा आयोजित दो दिवसीय आईआईएस ग्रुप ए स्पोर्ट्स टूर्नामेंट का सफल आयोजन हुआ।

Deeply saddened by the passing of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk. He was a highly decorated officer of the Indian Army, renowned for his gallantry, resolute leadership and unwavering commitment to duty. A proud son of #Ladakh, he exemplified the spirit of the region- resilient, steadfast and deeply rooted in service to the Nation, while standing as a symbol of India’s unity in diversity.

His courageous actions of leading by personal example during #OperationVijay inspired his men under the most demanding conditions in high-altitude. His life remains a testament to courage, sacrifice and national integration and his legacy will continue to inspire coming generations.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs wishes to highlight the factual position regarding waqf property documentation and the progress achieved under the UMEED framework, in the context of a recent report published by ThePrint. The Ministry also notes with appreciation the strong support extended by State Waqf Boards across the country, which have been cooperating with great zeal and commitment in implementing the provisions of the Act.

Under the UMEED Act, 2025, six months’ time was provided from the launch of the UMEED Central Portal on 06.06.2025 to upload details of waqf properties and properties dedicated to waqf. This period concluded on 06.12.2025.

The Act itself provides a remedy — Waqf Tribunals, upon being satisfied, may grant up to six months’ extension. Accordingly, 17 States/UTs have been granted extensions of 2–6 months from Feb 2026 onwards, strictly as per law.

Sabrina González Pasterski is known for being the “Next Albert Einstein” for good reasons. At just 27 years old, Pasterski has some amazing accomplishments already under her belt: she was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list twice, graduated from MIT Physics as valedictorian,  has had her research cited by Stephen Hawking, leads a team of other physicists to better understand quantum theory, and plenty more.

A first-generation Cuban-American, Pasterski is a proud graduate of Chicago public schools. Throughout her adolescent years, she was fascinated by STEM topics, even building and flying her own single-engine plane at just 14.
Pasterski earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from MIT (after being waitlisted when she first applied), graduating with a 5.0 GPA and earning her the title of the first female to graduate #1 from MIT Physics. From there, she went on to become a Ph.D. candidate at Harvard at just 21 years old.

In 2014, while at Harvard Pasterski and her colleagues discovered the “spin memory effect”, which may be able to detect/verify the net of effects of gravitational waves. This granted her academic freedom, allowing her to publish an individual paper on her findings in 2015. This individual paper, along with two others, she was cited by Stephen Hawking in 2016.

Pasterski earned her Ph.D. in 2019 and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Princeton Centre for Theoretical Science after graduating.
As a high-energy theorist, she researches complicated topics like black holes and spacetime, as well as working on projects that are hard for most people to even think about, like Low’s subleading soft theorem as a symmetry of QED, explanations of gravity in the context of quantum mechanics, and discovering infinite dimensional symmetry enhancements of the S-matrix.

She’s currently leading a team to encode the universe into a hologram to better understand and unite spacetime with quantum theory as founder and lead investigator of the Celestial Holography Initiative.

@amankrai28 He was preparing for IIT and then he had this clear goal that UPSC is his final goal.
He was asking for my guidance. I asked him first you want to be IITian or UPSC clear, give me a single answer.He could not , but after thinking for a minute he said UPSC.

In 2014, I had the option to choose between IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. Same branch. I chose IIT Delhi, because Delhi has better UPSC coaching.

The plan was to not worry about academics, finish first semester, then go full UPSC mode. I actually tried it too, spent a month reading NCERT History, Civics, Geography books. Watched all of "Pradhanmantri" with diligent notes. But, by the end of that month, I knew this wasn't for me.

In retrospect, this was probably one of the best decisions I've made. I've seen some of the sharpest people spend 5-6 years on this exam. Smart, capable people who could've built companies, done research, led teams. Stuck in the cycle of "one more attempt"- classic sunk cost fallacy.

A million people apply. Roughly a thousand get through. And there's enough luck involved that no IAS officer I know will claim it's purely hardwork.

Former RBI Governor, recently proposed lowering the age limit from 32 to 27, reducing the number of attempts from 6 to 3, and opening a mid-career track for people in their 40s who've actually done things. He called the current system a "colossal waste of productive years." Hard to argue against this.

The UPSC dream costs you your twenties. Your earning years. Your risk-taking years. The years you should be failing fast at startups, switching careers three times, figuring out what you're actually good at.

Over the years, many candidates have said that sitting here felt more nerve-wracking than the interview itself. Those quiet minutes, alone with your thoughts.
Perhaps this is the loneliest chair in the entire UPSC journey 😅
