As a child I did not know I was gay, because I had no concept of it. I knew that I was different and was hated and abused for it. I thought I was mentally ill and had to hide it so that I was not put in in an institution. I was not athletic and believed myself to be weak, somehow less than other boys. I was called queer, sissy, faggot and sometimes shit. I had to endure all this because I knew there was no one else in the world like me. Nobody would protect me. I was worthless. Someday someone would probably murder me. When I was bullied in school I was told I brought it on myself. This went on until high school. Lately I have been hearing people say that allowing gay and trans kids be themselves is a form of child abuse. That teaching kids in school that being gay is just one of many ways of being normal is sacrilegious. Many think that LGBT+🌈 children should be taught to conform to society's norms and later in life choose to enter gay/trans life. BULLSHIT!
