1. Somalia is very close to the Arabian Sea in the northwestern region of the Indian Ocean. This is where the movement of the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) causes strong changes in the wind direction and produces wonderful conditions for high wind speeds
Eastern Michigan University’s seven Somali Republic students got a firsthand view of Michigan’s state government on November 7, 1961, when they visited the capital and met Governor John B. Swaison.
In the afternoon they attended sessions of Michigan’s constitutional convention. In the evening they visited informally with Governor and Mrs. Swainson at a buffet supper at the home of Miss Ethel Polk, information officer of the APL-CIO Council (American Federation of Labour–Congress of Industrial Organization Union).

1. Northeastern State of Somalia (NES) is Somalia's newest FMS. MoF built its revenue, PFM systems and TSA from scratch, prepares and executes its own budget, and joined the IGFF process — without the typical donor-funded capacity-building.
2. As a volunteer for 2+ years, no one has dared approach me with a bribe. All hires via open competition. While Somali’s situation is very challenging, the Ministry works under zero corruption.
3. New administrations like NES — with no inherited payroll, patronage networks, or bloated budgets — have a rare window to set clean hiring, procurement and cash-management rules before bad habits entrench.
4. Somalia's PFM still struggles with patronage and leakage. NES's small base is an opportunity to do it differently. Somalis can build clean institutions from day one.
More than 600 years ago, Zheng He's voyages reached the coast of Somalia, opening a chapter of friendly exchanges marked by flourishing trade & mutual learning between the two civilizations. Since then, these enduring interactions have laid a solid foundation for our cooperation.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the North-Eastern Federal Regional Government has officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of "Haffir" dams in the Xudun and Xalin areas in respective Xudun and Taleex districts , Sool Province.
This initiative is part of the "Barwaaqo Project," funded by the @WorldBankAfrica@WorldBankGroup and will be implemented through a partnership between the ALIGHT and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
.The primary objective is to address the area's acute water shortages—particularly during the harsh dry seasons—by creating large-scale rainwater harvesting reservoirs. These reservoirs will provide a reliable water supply source for hundreds of families and their livestock.

Somalia spends over $130 million each year on fuel imports to generate electricity. The bulk of this money goes to Middle Eastern suppliers, draining resources that could otherwise drive domestic growth and hinder the advancement of Somalia’s energy sector.
At the Somali Success Story Conference in Mogadishu on October 15, 2025, leaders and experts will explore how Somalia can harness solar energy to cut down reliance on costly fuel imports.
