Day 3 at #IMNHC2026: Our team presents “Assessing MPDSR competency gaps in pre-service midwifery curricula in Kenya & Nigeria.” Prof. @acameh shows how better midwifery training can improve learning from maternal & perinatal deaths.

Attending the #IMNHC2026. Every year, millions of preventable maternal & newborn deaths occur due to poor quality care that is unsafe or ineffective. Quality #MNH care saves lives, but only when it reaches everyone, consistently and equitably. #QualityOfCare@MOH_Kenya@UNFPAKen
Starting out at IMNHC 2026 is a panel on “Implementation Matters”, where @acameh and global experts explored scaling maternal and newborn care, using data, and reaching underserved communities.

The Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (#MAMII) Project training continues with day 3 focusing on sharpening skills for accurate data collection in health facilities across Nigeria.
Supervisors and data collectors worked in groups to review tools and ensure clarity, consistency, and reliability in the data that drives maternal and newborn health decisions.
This initiative—led by the @NigeriaGov , the @gatesfoundation and key partners—is part of a broader effort to strengthen health systems and save the lives of mothers and babies across the country.

At the 8th AFEMSON Conference, I emphasised the urgent need to address anaemia in pregnancy, mental health, & preterm births. Research must drive personalised care & policy. I was also honoured to hand over to the new President. Grateful to Prof. Olayemi & the LOC. #AFEMSON2025
