Advancing the Silicon Savannah: Strategic Engagement with Korea Exim Bank 🇰🇪🇰🇷
Today at the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, I hosted a productive engagement with a delegation from Export–Import Bank of Korea (Korea Exim Bank), led by Byunghyun Hwang, together with officials from Konza Technopolis Development Authority, to review the progress of key bilateral projects between Kenya and the Republic of Korea.
Our discussions focused on initiatives that are strengthening Kenya’s innovation ecosystem and advancing the country’s position as a leading technology hub in Africa.
We reviewed progress toward the establishment of the Korea Exim Bank regional office in Nairobi, which will help streamline financing and accelerate the implementation of strategic projects across the region.
We also discussed the development of the Konza Digital Media City, a landmark investment valued at approximately $284 million (over KSh 31 billion) aimed at creating a world-class hub for digital content creation, creative industries, and media innovation at Konza Technopolis.
In addition, we assessed progress on the Smart Vaccine Manufacturing Facility, an important project that will strengthen regional health security and expand pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity.
Another key milestone is the upcoming Charter Award for the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, which will mark a historic step toward establishing Kenya’s first specialized graduate-only research university focused on science, engineering, and advanced technology.
We appreciate the continued partnership with the Government of the Republic of Korea as we accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation and strengthen the vision of the Silicon Savannah.
