I hate to say it, but Vijay becoming Chief Minister may have brought an end to the era of hyping mass heroes in commercial cinema.
After seeing an actor become the Chief Minister, every other attempt at building up a hero feels like it's happening within its own little bubble. No matter how much a film tries to sell its protagonist as the ultimate big shot, it will feel... puny in comparison. Reality has already outgrown the fantasy.
I'd rather see actors push themselves as performers than keep trying to manufacture a larger than life image that reality has already eclipsed.
