In my adult lifetime, Republicans have stood for rolling back the New Deal, Great Society, Roe, civil rights, progressive taxation, environmental protection & diplomacy. That’s been inspiration enough to vote against them in every election since 1982. #VoteBlueNoMatterWho
@speechboy71 NJ voter here. We absolutely need either runoffs or RCV. It’s ridiculous that the nominee gets under 30%. The problem is also the party. They can’t get their acts together and wind up with several local candidates without settling on one. The DSA is more disciplined.
@DerekPederson3 Control of the Senate = control of committees. The majority party sets the agenda. This is not just about confirmations (which I think you also undersell with a potential SCOTUS and shamelessly corrupt incompetents like Pulte announced today).
@blankslate2017@PpollingNumbers One hopes. Increasingly, DSA types are voting in primaries and the state’s large MENA population will turn out for El Sayed. Also unclear if McMorrow continues to slide where her voters will go. I’m worried.
@elikowaz This was 100% intented by Smotrich (most likely with Bibi’s support) as a giant F U to liberal American Jews, whom they despise. They wanted to embarrass Dem pols and hold themselves out as the true Zionists. They don’t care that they handed a huge PR win to the anti Israel left.
@brhodes@RonBrownstein It’s pretty basic actually. Smotrich just showed up at the parade and no Democratic politician anywhere has ever aligned with him or any of his views. Zohran didn’t march because he doesn’t believe Israel should exist. That should be controversial. You don’t seem to mind.
@JillFilipovic Ok, so you’ve pointed out a few of the negatives. Now, what are the positives that Platner has shown at any point in his life that would make anyone think he’d be qualified to be a US Senator?
@jonfavs Ok so apart from the documented bad stuff - the Nazi tattoo (and prevarications), the stint with Blackwater, the problematic shit-posting, etc. - can you identify a single positive accomplishment of Platner’s that qualifies him to be a US Senator? The guy’s an empty wet suit!
@Wilson__Valdez Platner was so disenchanted war he re-upped when he was done and took a job with Blackwater. He then voted for the woman he now blames for his decisions.
@NateSilver538 It may be difficult for your quant brain to comprehend but perhaps she was being a supportive spouse trying to put the best face on a tough situation. The anger over this is entirely misplaced. It’s not like people were tuning in to Jill Biden for expert debate analysis.
@JRileyMW@umichvoter@daveweigel lol. I think it may be too complicated for voters. I would prefer a runoff (which costs $). The nominee should be able to secure >50%. Without a runoff, Galindo would have been the nominee. That’s how Mejia won in my district with <30%.
@JacobALinker The phrasing is odd but it’s clear El Sayed wishes that the existing state of Israel be eliminated and rejects the concept of Jewish self determination. The obvious follow up is how do you believe that would come about and what happens to the 7 million Jews living there?
@jonfavs@jmart Literally no one thought Biden did well at the debate and I challenge you to find anyone who did. Biden supporters unanimously claimed he had a bad night but that it wasn’t indicative of, he was fine and would recover.
