@JamesSurowiecki That’s true with a 2025 mental model of AI. With the right checks in place, bright employees from any department are capable of improving the product.
@micsolana The fact that AI is/was growing so rapidly is the precise reason government would seek to regulate and control them. That’s kind of how things work.
@ijsthee “For most sliders, we don't care where we started. But temperature? We're tuning a feeling… the distance from ‘before’ to “current” felt meaningful”
💯
@destraynor 100%. The speed of progress in AI has broken the traditional ealry adoption -> normalcy curve. We need to proactively draw the “late majority “and “laggards” toward the frontier to achieve success.
@kentcdodds Apple has had a little known/used “app clips” functionality that is the exact right paradigm. For many things, chat will become the main interface but at some point in might make sense to load some “lightweight, in-the-moment experience” from your UI
@WallStreetApes The video says fewer than 1% of “milk cartons” (cardboard with a plastic lining). Gallon jugs fall into a different category in the report (hdpe) which is recycled at a rate of 19%. Not great, but nearly 1 in 5 is better than less than 1 in a 100.
@iamdavidhill@opencode 1 because I can scan filenames straight down since they are left aligned. The filename is the first recognizeable indicator I look for, the directory is the clarifier. Option 2 is “most logical” structurally, but they eye has to try to scan down the jagged edge.
@girdley Optionality = optimism. Employees can pick up on the pessimism easilt if the business is constantly cornered choosing between the lesser of two bad options.
@DannPetty@zoink It’s not obvious to me that a UI design tool will be the winner, however. The largest risk is that UI design is entirely subverted by the LLM coding integrations and is left to tailwind/shadui and the likes.
@DannPetty@zoink@DannPetty@zoink my sense is that the product vulnerability is some new player democratizing interface design the way canva has done for marketing (and is now expanding).
Kitchen sink (Ps) > specialist tool (Figma) > democratized generalist (?)
@DannPetty@zoink Figma is still the best for managing design systems and aligning teams within the robust product planning workflow. But, every day I talk to PMs dying for ways to influence and communicate their design ideas and Figma is hard (plus they get boxed out on large teams).
@DannPetty@zoink With the onset of vibe coding and LLMs in general, a major see change is among us. More and more people are empowered to be generalist builders and we are witnessing the industry moving away from the mass of heavily specialized roles.
