Combined Maritime Forces conducted drug interdictions, seizing more than 18 tons of crystal methamphetamine and other drugs valued at $330+ million. The UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg delivered his briefing today to the #UN Security Council.

✍️Key points included:

⚪️The UN Special Envoy welcomed regional and national efforts to address recent developments in the south through dialogue. He stressed “Achieving sustained and concrete solutions for #Yemen necessitates not only the active willingness of Yemeni stakeholders, but also the concerted and united support of the region.”

⚪️He noted that President Rashad al-Alimi’s initiative to convene a dialogue, hosted by the Kingdom of #Saudi Arabia, with a range of southern actors “offers an opportunity to start addressing the issue of the south through inclusive political engagement”.

⚪️He noted that “the future of the south cannot be determined by any single actor or through force. Ultimately, it is up to Yemenis – including the full diversity of southern perspectives – to address this complex and longstanding issue.”

⚪️He warned that, “with the economy already fragile and household resilience largely exhausted, even short-lived political and security instability could trigger currency pressures, widen fiscal gaps, and stall reform efforts”.

⚪️He highlighted that advancing the political process toward a negotiated settlement will require all parties, including Ansar Allah, to avoid escalation in actions and rhetoric, and to remain open to UN-led engagement on confidence-building steps and a comprehensive political process.

⚪️On the conflict-related detainees release, he stressed that the responsibility now lies with the parties to move from agreement to implementation, noting that nothing prevents releases but political will.

⚪️The UN Special Envoy also called for the immediate release of detained staff and the rescission of court referrals. Urging the Member States with influence to support efforts to resolve this issue without a delay.

⚪️He stressed that “this is a moment for Yemeni leaders to invest in politics rather than force, in institutions rather than fragmentation, and in the national interest rather than narrow calculations”. He called the parties to seize the existing opportunity and move decisively toward stabilization and a comprehensive peace process.

⚪️He noted that the unity of the Security Council and coordinated use of leverage “will be critical to steer Yemen on the right path”.

✍🏽 تضمنت أبرز النقاط التالية:

⚪️رحّب المبعوث الأممي الخاص بالجهود الإقليمية والوطنية المبذولة لمعالجة التطورات الأخيرة في الجنوب من خلال الحوار. وأكد "إن التوصّل إلى حلول مستدامة وملموسة لليمن لا يتطلّب فقط إرادة فاعلة من الأطراف اليمنية، بل يستلزم أيضًا دعمًا إقليميًا موحّدًا ومنسّقًا".

⚪️وأشار إلى أن مبادرة الرئيس رشاد العليمي لعقد حوار، تستضيفه المملكة العربية السعودية، مع مجموعة من الجهات الفاعلة الجنوبية، " تتيح فرصة لبدء معالجة قضية الجنوب من خلال انخراط سياسي شامل. "

⚪️وأوضح أن "إن مستقبل الجنوب لا يمكن أن يحدده أي طرف منفرد أو يُفرض بالقوة. وفي نهاية المطاف، يعود لليمنيين أنفسهم—بما في ذلك كامل تنوع الرؤى الجنوبية— معالجة هذه القضية المعقدة والمتجذرة منذ زمن طويل".

⚪️وحذر من أنه "في ظل هشاشة الاقتصاد واستنفاد قدرة الأسر على الصمود، يمكن لأي اضطراب سياسي أو أمني، ولو كان قصير الأمد، قد يفرض ضغوطاً على العملة، ويعمّق العجز المالي، ويعرقل جهود الإصلاح".

⚪️وأكد أن دفع العملية السياسية نحو تسوية تفاوضية يتطلب من جميع الأطراف، بما في ذلك أنصار الله، تجنب التصعيد في الخطاب أو الإجراءات، والانفتاح على الانخراط برعاية الأمم المتحدة في خطوات لبناء الثقة وعملية سياسية شاملة.

⚪️وبشأن إطلاق سراح المحتجزين على خلفية النزاع، شدد على أن المسؤولية تقع الآن على عاتق الأطراف للانتقال من الاتفاق إلى التنفيذ، مشيراً إلى أنه لا شيء يحول دون هذه الإفراجات سوى الإرادة السياسية.

⚪️كما دعا المبعوث الأممي إلى الإفراج الفوري عن الموظفين المحتجزين، وإلغاء الإحالات إلى المحكمة. وحث الدول الأعضاء ذات النفوذ على دعم الجهود المبذولة لحل هذه القضية دون تأخير.

⚪️وشدد على أن "هذه اللحظة تتطلّب من القادة اليمنيين الاستثمار في السياسة بدلاً من اللجوء إلى القوة، وفي المؤسسات بدلاً من التفكك، وفي المصلحة الوطنية بدلاً من الحسابات الضيقة". ودعا الأطراف إلى اغتنام الفرصة المتاحة والتحرك بحزم نحو الاستقرار وعملية سلام شاملة.

⚪️وأشار إلى أن وحدة مجلس الأمن وممارسته المنسّقة لنفوذه له "دور حاسم في توجيه اليمن نحو المسار الصحيح".
