Today in Baringo County, @cedgg_2001 , in partnership with @UraiaTrust and with support from @denmarkinkenya , convened a reflection meeting to take stock of the 𝑼𝒘𝒂𝒋𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒋𝒊 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒊 project.

The project, implemented over the past years, has focused on strengthening social accountability in the health and water sectors. Through civic education, budget engagement, community scorecards, and dialogue with the County Health Management Team (CHMT), the initiative has sought to enhance service delivery while empowering citizens to actively participate in governance.

The reflection meeting brought together county officials, administrators, the treasury team, civic educators, budget champions, the media, and the CHMT. Participants reviewed what worked well, the challenges encountered, and strategies needed to sustain progress. Their discussions centered on lessons from civic engagement, budget monitoring, and health accountability processes.

Among the key outcomes noted were improved service delivery through civic action, stronger healthcare provision by the CHMT, and a healthier relationship between county authorities and citizens. Public participation has increasingly translated into tangible results, underscoring the value of sustained civic engagement.

In a parallel session, deliberations also began on the road map towards developing a county civic education framework. This is expected to provide lasting structures for citizen participation.

All reflections and outcomes from the meeting are being documented to inform future programming and strengthen decision-making. As the 𝑼𝒘𝒂𝒋𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒋𝒊 𝑴𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒊 project draws to a close, today’s session marks an important step in consolidating achievements and shaping the path forward for accountable governance and improved service delivery in Baringo.
