Years ago now, before I was involved in trying to stop AI from killing everyone, I was an artist. I was just kinda worried about being replaced by AI. I felt depressed, because I knew the skills I’d been building for 15+ years were about to become irrelevant.
At that time, I made this video. I still think it’s pretty good. Though lacks nuance.

@viemccoy Leaving aside whatever social issues, AI companies do not have the ability to not kill us. That takes a treaty. OpenAI and Anthropic could help by admitting outright how bad the situation is and that everyone should be shut down. Companies do not have the ability to stop it.
Sadly just left PDKU, it was an incredibly transformative experience I will write about extensively in the future.
Until then, here is a picture of me in my dinosaur onesie on sf transit:
The Hank Green backlash has me thinking that AI safety can carve out a pretty big niche for itself as one of the groups saying "Hey we're also concerned about AI but won't call you a monster for just using the models"
Seconded. Hank himself claims he made a mistake and based of his reddit post I see what he means, but still I think people are over reacting to this.
Doesn't seem like any of the info he shared in his videos was incorrect anyway?
Please let’s not make it so that the most powerful technology ever made can only ever be used by the aspiring universe dictators developing it. That is not a good way to get a strategic advantage over said aspiring universe dictators.
