The Inheritance of Silence 2026 30” X 22” watercolor on handmade paper
The child never understands why certain subjects cause the room to become quiet.
There are stories that are told and stories that are carried.
The faces behind him belong to those who came before, part memory, part invention, part dream. They hover between presence and disappearance, refusing to settle into the certainty of a photograph. Their features dissolve because memory itself dissolves.
Around them, handprints emerge like echoes. They are evidence: proof that lives were lived, that people touched the world, that they existed long enough to leave a mark.
The child sits in the foreground holding a mask. It is unclear whether he is hiding behind it or removing it. The mask is anger, grief, protection, and survival. It is the face inherited from history, the face worn before one discovers one's own.
How much of who we are belongs to us? How much was placed in our hands before we arrived?
The answer remains suspended in the space between the three figures, where memory becomes identity and identity becomes destiny.

FACES — Lore #19
my latest digital collection, created with @iconic__culture on OpenSea.
It sold out in under a minute.
Each piece carries real stories, emotions, and moments from my life as an artist (works in the Met, MoMA, SFMOMA, and more).
These lore posts take you behind the scenes of every Face.
Thank you to every collector who believed in the vision.

The response to FACES changed the temperature around my work.
Now I’m deep in the studio preparing a major LA exhibition. New paintings. Digital counterparts. Bigger risks.
50+ years in and I still feel like I’m discovering something.
More soon.

I’m honored to share that I’ve been commissioned by @tadtweets to create a new work consisting of both a digital piece and its physical twin.
The commission came after Tad encountered my FACES collection and connected deeply with one of the works, which had already been acquired. Rather than letting the moment pass, he chose to commission a new piece born from that same spirit and emotional language.
I’m deeply grateful for his belief in the work and for the thoughtful connection that made this possible.
Special thanks to @RDToTheMoon for facilitating this in such a meaningful way.
This kind of dialogue between physical and digital practice is something I care about profoundly, and I’m excited to share both versions of the work here.

@XRPathologist Without a mega bullish catalyst in the hopper it seems like a liquidity grab in that region for BTC is likely. Max pain theory requires something like that I would think.
