A number of actions are being taken by the GEO LDN multi-sectorial team to achieve neutrality in terms of land degradation. Conserving and restoring ecosystems while promoting sustainable land use practices and nature based solutions informed by earth observation data.
Land Degradation Neutrality plays a critical role in strengthening the resilience of communities against climate crises by securing and improving the provision of ecosystem services.
At the just concluded 2 days workshop on Land Degradation Neutrality Targets Setting Programme (LDN - TSP 2.0) by Federal Ministry of Environment, I presented the work of IFRC and NRCS on sustainable land management in Nigeria.
To effectively execute this strategy, community engagement and stakeholder participation play pivotal roles in restoring degraded lands to a natural and productive state.
#Climatechange#Restoration
To achieve LDN, a crucial action involves the reduction of existing degradation through the adoption of sustainable land management practices and restoration activities. This contributes to climate change mitigation, ecosystem conservation and food security.

It is essential to raise awareness and take action to safeguard our water, wetlands, and watersheds.
Together, we can ensure a brighter future for both migratory birds and our water resources.
World Migratory Bird Day serves as a poignant reminder of the intricate relationship between water, wetlands, and the remarkable journeys of migratory birds.
On the 14th of October 2023 #WMBD, I joined the Abuja Bird Club in commemorating this vital occasion.
