@MattWalshBlog Name one man who became a better husband or father by drinking. I’ll wait.
I can name several who ruined marriages and tore families apart by drinking.
@OliverBCushing@allie__voss The issue is travel sports where you have to be out of town the whole weekend. I played town rec league baseball and basketball most of my childhood and never missed church because of it.
@kmcubine@MrDanielBuck I understand that, I teach some of those courses myself (Ag Mechanics and Horticulture). I was curious to see if the tweet author had ideas of how to improve vocational/CTE since larger classes aren’t practical there. I think the crux of any solution is how discipline is handled.
Oh look, another wildly famous and successful person who benefited from a traditional education arguing that we need to do away with old school learning and thereby kick over the very ladder that he himself climbed up
Just another Wednesday
@eduleadership 2/2 they have expectations, deadlines, and resources. Students are taught grade level curriculum.
Teacher "autonomy", "meeting students at their level", "equity and inclusion" are parts of social justice fallacy in education. Masked behind systemic underfunding.
@eduleadership Countries that have high math and literacy levels all have centralized curriculum.
Teachers do not reinvent the wheel (like science of reading or explicit direct instruction). They don't spend evenings/money looking for resources from TpT. They follow the plan.1/2
@Billyp444__@Empty_America NC public school teachers do. You are vested after 5 years of service and can retire with 30 years of service at any age, age 60 with 25 years of service, and age 65 with 5 years of service.
@BowTiedRanger I want Americans to have job opportunities again, and safe roads. I want a family to be able to afford a home, car, groceries and an annual vacation. I want Americans to have jobs that offer pensions, affordable health care. ERs who see you in 30 minutes. Schools who teach civics
More than anything, I just feel betrayed by this country. I was a solid A- student, competed athletically for my school, volunteered my time, went to university, never broke the law or got into too much trouble, and my reward was a resounding "fuck you, go make cold calls."
Andrew Siebel, @NationalFFA President, visited @mcscte today. He is one of six National FFA officers elected to represent the 850,000 #FFA members across the US. It is a great honor for us to host him for a chapter visit. #CTEWorks@CTEforNC@aclarkadams@adam_keith97
Tomorrow I start year 31 in the classroom, here’s a list of the lessons I’ve learned over my 3 decades working with teens…
1. Don’t fart in class
2. If you ever fall, they will act like you are old and broke a hip.
3. If you feed them then you have to always feed them.
What an exciting week for @mcscte AgVenture Camp! Ss welded & painted little tractors cut out on our plasma cutter. Tractor safety and practice were discussed. Thank you, @NBTfoundation, for providing funding for the fantastic camp! 🥽🔥🚜 #CTEWorks@adam_keith97@aclarkadams
Another fantastic day for @mcscte AgVenture Camp! Students learned about greenhouses, growing media components, propagated succulents from cuttings, planted radish micro-greens, learned about soils, and did basic tree ID. 🪴🐐🐐 #CTEWorks@aclarkadams@adam_keith97
