While supply gaps for some critical minerals are narrowing, key risks remain
Investment momentum in critical minerals has weakened recently & export restrictions are on the rise
Without further action, copper could see a 30% supply shortfall by 2035 👉 https://t.co/Ii98eOtnWA
“They cut speed limits, changed street design, removed space for cars…Now it appears that work is paying off. #Oslo & #Helsinki are reaping the rewards of committed action on making their roads safer, reducing pedestrian fatalities to zero last year.” https://t.co/EgPQSx1pRW
K-8 students who live within ONE MILE:
in 1969, 89% walked or biked to school.
in 2009, 13% walked or biked to school.
That suggests parenting culture plays a much larger role than car culture. Or parenting culture IS car culture.

@fernatme@christineeboyle Try to keep up, Fern. We voted with our feet, proving the setup popular. Surveys backed that up. Its success was noted by the new PB Chair. Cars still have access, so no "losers" despite the bleating and misinformation from a small group who oppose anything to do with cycling.
“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath https://t.co/L9qdJ22ngc
@TristinHopper This is weak, Tristan. Even defensive and desperate. Instead, why don't you use your big brain to explore how car-centrc-orthodoxy leads its adherents to this type of rationalization. Do you see the "cycling thing" as an indictment of your way of life/thinking?
@KenSimCity ....Will you correct this ambiguity? Anti-cycling zealots seem triumphant, but are they just displaying the same cognitive dissonance that's behind their "accessibility" lie and belief they are in the majority? I look forward to your clarification. 2/2
@KenSimCity Certainly Ken, you're not celebrating the removal of a popular recreational anemity in a public park that's supported by a majority of Vancouverites? Rather, this tweet is about the passing of a motion for the creation of "permanent, dedicated cycling infrastructure," right?..1/2
@jodyvance@CityofVancouver@ParkBoard@steeletalk@BradMacNews The motion passed by the PB calls for creating "permanent, dedicated cycling infrastructure." So while anti-cycling zealots may feel triumphant, they're just displaying the same cognitive dissonance that's behind their "accessibility" lie and belief they are in the majority.
Had a nice meal at Nook on Yew last weekend outside on their sidewalk patio…was thinking how cool it would be if that whole block was closed to cars. Massive patios on both sides of the street. Would be so incredible, so signature block for the city!
@MikeKlassen@Photorrhorne@CBCGloria@sarahkirby_yung@CBCOnTheCoast@Vote4ABC@j_mcelroy ...inspired bit of theatre by individuals who were being less than honest, carried an inchoate hatred of cycling (and were conspicuous losers in the polls), and designed to generate division and cast cyclists as uncaring of the needs of others; falsehoods we should leave behind.
@MikeKlassen@Photorrhorne@CBCGloria@sarahkirby_yung@CBCOnTheCoast@Vote4ABC@j_mcelroy Hi Mike. Congrats and all the best for the upcoming term in council. I look forward to the return of the bike lane; data shows its popularity and cycle rental businesses must love it. May I suggest however that the canard that it impeded access to anybody was a politically...1/2
@Lucyincanada ..seeking to exploit anti-cycling anger for votes bear some responsibility. These people should look in the mirror and try to understand the consequences of thier behaviour, not to mention seek to understand the roots of what often seem to be views verging on the pathological.
@Lucyincanada There's been a discernible uptick in agro directed towards cyclists, and research shows a correlation between this type of behaviour and media that's negative towards cycling. People like #jody5bikes and #thenotsofineguy, and the cynical political parties generating and.....
