@GreyCupBound @CramerMarni @SKGov @SaskParty The AR-15 chambers a .223 Remington round, which is an intermediate calibre, much less powerful than most hunting rounds (.308, .30-06, .303, etc.). It doesn't have an 'exploding' bullet or anything else. It's just a medium-powered cartridge, here fired semi-automatically.

(2) Canada's two most popular hunting rifles are the .303 Lee-Enfield and the SKS semi-auto, both originally military designs; (3) "Recreational purposes," i.e. target-shooting & collecting, include historic military rifles.

@Polysesouvient Please define "semi-automatic assault weapons." You probably know that "assault rifle" is a translation of the German/Nazi 'Sturmgewehr' of 1943-44, with a fully-automatic capacity. The AK-47, also full-auto, is the iconic "assault rifle." Semi-autos are not assault rifles.

Firearms in the homes of licensed gun-owners aren't "on the street." Fearmonger much?
