I've been thinking a lot about the surprising number of intelligent, capable women I know who, in their late 30s or early 40s, have broken up their families, sought treatment for anxiety / depression, and seem to live emotional lives of torment and trauma that bears no rational connection to the incredibly affluent and luxurious lifestyles that they actually inhabit. Why?

First, I think it's because there's a certain truth to "more money, more problems." Yes, affluence removes certain kinds of hardships, but it introduces an entire novel set of problems that most people have no experience with managing.

The most important problem that arises is the constant shifting of benchmarks -- higher and higher.

If you're making $200k a year... then your way of life (how you live every day) is at least relatable to how you grew up, even if you were poor. Likewise it is relatable to most of your peers from college and work... but if you're making $5m+ a year... your way of life isn't relatable at all.

Sounds great! But, guess what? All of your benchmarks get elevated, including what you're expecting from your marriage, your house, your children, your travel, social life... even your meals. When virtually everything is affordable, it makes settling for almost anything that's not perfect seem like failure. Meanwhile, beyond a certain quality baseline it really doesn't make any difference to your happiness if you're eating Michelin 3-star dinners or just a good home-cooked meal.

And what matters most to your happiness? Beyond a baseline of safety and health, I'd say it's the quality of your interpersonal relationships and your personal satisfaction with your own efforts. It feels good to work hard and overcome challenges. But wealth interferes with both relationships and your career in surprising ways.

Wealth interferes with family bonding because it's not you and your kids against the world anymore. The family becomes a group of individuals, each with their own limitless opportunities. Travel teams. Private schools. Complex and stressful social rituals. The opportunity to achieve almost anything brings enormous pressures to separate yourself, through effort, from your peers and your family. That's not the same thing as everyone in a foxhole, working to survive. And it doesn't feel the same way.

And when it takes $10m to move the needle on your balance sheet, it's hard to gear up to do your best everyday, even when you realize that's what happiness requires.

For women, I think these challenges are much harder than for most men. Men are naturally hierarchal. It's easy for them to have friends that specialize in different areas -- being rich is only one way men rank status. Men have evolved different ways of gracefully understanding who's the alpha in different settings. Doesn't matter how rich you are in a best-ball golf contest. Only matters if you can putt. Same in the gym. Same for being gifted socially or talented in the kitchen, etc. Men almost always base their self-respect on what they can do, not what they have.

Women tend to base their self respect on what they have. A spouse’s flaws, the drudgery of parenting, aging, sexual boredom, or professional limits don't just reflect normal life challenges ... they are evidence of personal weakness and failure. And... these comparisons never end. There's no relief: Instagram, schools, clubs, neighborhoods, and professional networks supply a continuous stream of people who appear to have more.

Worst of all, women lie to each other, almost all of the time. They can be unbelievably socially vicious in ways that men simply aren't.

Two dudes get into a fist fight and, assuming they fight fair, they'll be friends again by the end of the week. And they'll laugh about the conflict for years.

I've seen women refuse to speak to each other two decades later because of something one of them supposedly said.

The Bessent Put

Today the US Treasury doubled the size of its long-end bond buybacks, the day after the 30-year yield hit a 19-year high at 5.33%. The extra dollars are small. The signal is enormous.

For the first time, the fiscal authority, not the Fed, stepped in to defend the long end within 24 hours of the highs. There is now a put under the long bond, and the market has just been told the top of the range...

Look at the plumbing underneath it...

The buybacks pull old, illiquid bonds off dealer balance sheets and get funded at the front end with bills, which the banking system absorbs. Duration out, money-like paper in. Lower long-end volatility raises the collateral value of every Treasury in the repo system, which is itself a liquidity easing. And the QRA language quietly changed two weeks ago to allow exactly this.

It isn't happening in isolation. This month's joint yen intervention was about stopping Japan from ever becoming a forced seller of Treasuries, and the new dollar swap lines across Asia and the Gulf keep the region's dollar debts rolling, with China the ultimate beneficiary. A weaker dollar is the tool that brings the big foreign buyers, Japan and eventually China, back to the long end. Supply managed on one side, demand rebuilt on the other.

With a long end now potentially anchored, the steepening of the curve should come from Warsh, who will probably deliver his part of the grand bargain between the Fed and the Treasury.

All of this is to fund the hyperscaler capex along with government debt. For the first time since the GFC both public and private debt as a % of GDP are growing and both are vital.

This is the everything code fully at play and brings together many threads I've been talking about for the last two years. The debt must be serviced and liquidity, by whichever mechanism they can route it, is the method.

Financial conditions started easing through both legs at once today, and financial conditions are the first domino in the sequence we have been mapping all year.

To be warned this is not an instant liquidity flood happening right now. This is the entire scaffolding being set up for the much larger game. The Great Game is the funding of the aging population along with the funding of the new demographic of AI and robots. Both games are too big and too important to stop. The funding of the the intelligence build out is the most important game of all time. It is too big to fail.

The Muslim religion is the fastest-growing religion per capita in the United States, especially among minority races.
Last month I attended a training. During the training session, three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim faiths each presented their beliefs.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.
After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked:
'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, “Nonbelievers"
I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'
He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'
I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same to guarantee them a place in heaven!'
The Muslim was speechless.
I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question:
Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?'
You could have heard a pin drop.
Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.
In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the US to elect the President.
I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.

Ludwig von Mises sat down in 1920 and published a paper that ended the intellectual case for socialism, even if the socialists took another seven decades to notice.

The argument was precise. Mises showed that without private ownership of the means of production, there are no real prices for capital goods. Without prices, you cannot calculate profit and loss. Without profit and loss, economic planners have no way of knowing whether they are creating value or destroying it. They are flying blind, spending real resources with no feedback mechanism telling them whether the factory, the railway, or the grain depot was worth building. Every allocation becomes a guess dressed up as a decree.

This, he called the Socialist Calculation Problem, and nobody answered it. Oskar Lange tried in 1936, proposing that socialist planners could simulate prices by trial and error. Mises read this and was unimpressed (charitably put). Lange assumed you could reproduce the function of market prices without the institution that generates them: private property, genuine exchange, real skin in the game. You cannot fake the signal and expect accurate information.

The Soviet Union spent seventy years proving Mises right. Chronic shortages, misallocated steel, surplus winter boots in Georgia in July, famine engineered by committees convinced they understood grain supply better than the price system. The USSR collapsed in 1991 under the weight of precisely the inefficiencies Mises predicted in Vienna in 1920.

You are watching this play out again today, every time a government sets energy prices, rent ceilings, or pharmaceutical price caps, and then expresses shock at the resulting shortages. The calculation problem did not expire with the Soviet Union. Bureaucrats who override price signals recreate the same blindness Mises identified. Mises told you exactly what would happen.

Muslims become more devout, more visibly Islamic, more committed to the cause, not in Mecca, but in Michigan, not in the Islamic countries, but in the West.

Why?

Because Islam in the Muslim world is a system of hollow rituals weighed down by guilt.

You’re expected to follow endless rules, pray, fast, wash, repeat, and when you fail (and you will), Allah offers nothing but shame and punishment. No grace. No relationship. Just fear.

Eventually, many Muslims give up. They go through the motions, because it’s all meaningless repetition in a society where everyone else is pretending too.

But when a Muslim steps into the West, into enemy territory, everything changes.

Now, the same rituals become weapons of loyalty. Now, obedience has strategic value. Now, every act of devotion is proof to Allah that you're on His side, surrounded by the infidels.

Suddenly, praying in public is a badge. Wearing the hijab is a flag.

Going to the mosque, spreading Islam, organizing protests, infiltrating institutions, all of it becomes a way to declare loyalty to Allah behind enemy lines.

Because here, in the West, allah is not just demanding ritual, He’s demanding allegiance.

And that allegiance feels powerful. Purposeful. Redemptive.

It fills the void that guilt and hopelessness left behind in the Muslim world.

Back home, they failed allah constantly and felt nothing but shame. But here, allah gives them a mission:

Defend Me.
Represent Me.
Expand Me.
And I will reward you.

That’s why Muslims who were secular or indifferent in their own countries suddenly become zealous in the West.

They start praying.
They start veiling.
They start preaching.
They start targeting every non-Muslim for conversion.
They organize. They march. They infiltrate.

Because now, it all means something.

They’re not lost in empty rituals anymore. They’re loyal soldiers in a foreign land. And every step they take toward Islam is, in their mind, a strike against the enemy and a point earned with allah.

This is why Western freedom doesn’t soften Islam, it activates it. It gives Islamic obedience a battlefield.

And loyalty, not guilt, becomes the engine.

As an Iranian watching this rescue mission unfold, I was praying the American pilot would make it out alive, not just for him, but so the Islamic Republic could not use him as a bargaining chip or claim some twisted “victory.”

At the same time, I felt a deep envy.

Your government sent elite special forces, million-dollar aircraft, and moved heaven and earth to bring one American home. No hesitation. No excuses.

In Iran, the regime uses human shields and recruited child soldiers to clear minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. They treat their own people like disposable tools. They are now recruiting child soldiers as we speak.

The Islamic Republic has zero regard for human life. That’s the brutal difference.

One side risks everything to save their own.
The other sacrifices their own to stay in power.

The reason she says “could pay for” instead of “will pay for” is crucially important to understand.

The programs Sen Warren talks about are important and helpful. But in no way can Sen Warren guarantee that the money the government collects can be sent directly to these programs let alone that those programs will spend it wisely and won’t waste it.

In other words, this can buy votes from the people grifting from the leaky bucket or idealists who want to tithe and think they are part of some greater good but it won’t actually solve any real problems.

Until there is some form of closed-loop accountability and auditing of government programs, even those that support big government need to be intellectually honest enough to admit this is all theater and sending good money after bad fixes nothing and is more destructive than helpful.
