@scooterkendall Important? Like an above commenter said, no other state pays out a check. In fact they all have taxes and some are just as expensive to live in. If AK wants to keep a pfd they need more revenue in the form of an income tax and low income folks won’t have to pay it.
Read that former Sen @MarkBegich finally admitted his COWARDLY vote against stricter gun laws was a mistake after Newtown massacre. I knew it was a mistake and I had to put my kid on a bus to 1st grade the next day. He wasn’t re-elected. #akleg https://t.co/dTh9yebAQZ
Gov vetoed HB8, said it was unnecessary regulation. But HB8 did reduce regs, it said an e-bike of a certain size was just a bike. Current regs say it's a motorized vehicle. Gov didn't understand bill, too bad AK.

AK Legislature can’t pass fiscal plan, can’t fix education funding , can’t pass a budget, can’t fix PFD formula, but can accept a 67% pay raise
Nice work

Very proud to be receiving the William R. Cashen award from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. This article was published in Aurora, the publication for the alumni and friends of UAF. #akleg#UAF

@alaskascott You are correct Scotty, it is a moral document. So the question is: does one put more value on increased education funding or a big PFD? That's the crux of the matter for this budget. Do you have a moral response? Which do you value?
@leslieridle@alaskalandmine people get too entrenched and 24 years is plenty. It's good to get a certain amount of turnover. I know it happens w/o limits, but 30+ years in the legislature, is too long...too comfortable.
@AK_OK https://t.co/zdKEVB7W3O balanced article for those who have a NYT subscription. here's an excerpt: The sprinter Allyson Felix won the most world championship medals in history. Her lifetime best in the 400 meters was 49.26 seconds; in 2018, 275 high school boys ran faster.
@adndotcom My daughter is the fastest runner on her girls high school XC track team. If she were on the boys team she’d be in the middle of the pack. Boys run faster than girls, that’s a scientific fact.
@HeidiDrygas if legislative salary goes to $84K plus $300 per diem I think you'll have a lot of "lifers". remember AK is not a full-time professional legislature like NY or CA, it's a 120 day session.
@ForrestDunbarAK I'd have so say if Juneau is DC, which is a stretch, then Fairbanks could be Philly, although I'd prefer Boston, then ANC could definitely be Newark, but not NYC.
@alaskascott@Twitter what do you think Scott? I think 13 is too young for many things, including social media. many parents don't give their kids smartphones till 14, although that's getting tougher.
