@MissTariq06 I did supply teaching for six months after qualifying and it hones your teacher presence and flexibility to adapt. You'll feel so much more experienced by the time you get your first full time post. (Also check out some of my resources - they will be perfect for your toolkit!)

@TheMrBirch My eldest daughter was given the Ladybird Classic Collection of Fairytales by her godfather and she wants to read them all the time (now aged 3). There are beautiful and intricate pop up versions of trad tales but they are not for babies #somuchdamage

1) How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie - it just describes a brilliant way to live life.
2) Black and British: A Forgotten History by David Olusoga - there was so much I didn't know
3) Mythos by Stephen Fry

I think sci fi is about asking "What if...?" so perhaps Noughts and Crosses and The Last Wild count? They aren't alien-y but consider alternative histories in brilliant ways.
