What people think about themselves is often reflected in how they treat those around them.
The people who are genuinely secure and self-confident are those who are able to celebrate with you in your wins and extend grace to you in your failures.
Imagine if all of our academic institutions placed as much value on kindness, inclusivity, and integrity as they do on grants, papers, and awards.
The culture will change when the reward system changes.
Today, I passed my qualifying exam for my PhD program. A milestone in the books, and so much gratitude for those who helped me get to this point. Now for some R&R before getting back to the rest of the PhD 😅

Today, I met a stranger in a loading dock, looked them in their eyes, thanked them for their poop, and then proceeded to process their sample back in lab. Twice. 🦠💩 what has my life turned into? #gradschool#microbiome#research#AcademicTwitter
@SimiJuri@AcademicChatter Currently learning isometric log-ratio transformation to deal with microbiome CoDa. I've only had one statistics course in my life 😬

Eloquently 'tweeted', please give the thread a read (~3min read). At this point, keeping ourselves and our community 🏘 healthy is our best case scenario, even if it means we must #stayinside for weeks/months. We can do this #twitterverse 💪🦠
We can now read the Imperial College report on COVID-19 that led to the extreme measures we've seen in the US this week. Read it; it's terrifying. I'll offer a summary in this thread; please correct me if I've gotten it wrong.

It took one semester of grad school for #googlechrome to learn to autofill the letter "N" to https://t.co/LoeQY9CCCW instead of #netflix. Still trying to figure out if this is a good thing or not...😅

"What did I just watch?", "Who cast the protagonist?", "Clearly this was made on a budget." - movie reviews if my first semester of graduate school was a film. Happy it's done and already looking forward the next one!

I'm sure at some point I'll unintentionally fall into one of these "don'ts", especially point #5 RE keeping records organized. Any suggestions as to how to keep papers, data, documents all organized for grad school? #phdchat#AcademicTwitter https://t.co/OgsRvtOKzv
