Redrawing “autism”. Nuanced approach to understanding differences across many aspects. Balances the paradox of the language of autism being useful but the “hard” definition being challenging to both personal identities and clinical practices.
“the forest of surprises” - the front line in Ukraine. It sounds like not all western weapons are not getting to volunteer battalions.

Interesting view on how US supported Soviet WW2 industrialisation … and debt led to Stalin’s brutal repressions. NB I am not a historian and lazily haven’t fact checked, so corroborations would be valuable.
Why Russia can't win against the West
Russia is often portrayed as the invincible military power. And yet, this reputation is based on two wars - Napoleonic and WWII. In both cases Russia won only thanks to the alliance allied with *the* leading economic powerhouse of that era🧵
Who is the most high-agency person you've never heard of?
Rudolf Vrba.
He escaped Auschwitz by soaking himself in gasoline -- to give a memo to Churchill, Roosevelt, and the Pope.
Meet the man who saved 200,000 lives from the Nazis:
One of my dear friends asked me to train a Stable Diffusion model on photographs of his mother. He was very close with his mother who was a single mother. They had a lot of adventures together. She passed away way too soon.
I trained a model locally and let him use my computer and taught him to use A.I. He's never used A.I. before and as you know prompting in SD is much harder than Midjourney, so I showed him https://t.co/7kMxKwyFY0 where he could search for prompts and styles. He asked me to sit in the same room and I sat on the couch and gave him space.
He was typing and then asked me to come. I saw photographs of a young boy and his mother and I thought he was recreating photos of them together in the past. I asked if it was him. "It's my future son and my mom."
He said it was a healing experience. With his kind permission, I share with you these and his captions.
Leaked Google document: “We Have No Moat, And Neither Does OpenAI”
The most interesting thing I've read recently about LLMs - a purportedly leaked document from a researcher at Google talking about the huge strategic impact open source models are having

Good points on maturity & credibility
I don’t agree with the phasing of “digitalisation”
Digital predates computing. It’s 100+ years old. It’s not new. Current transformation is in many ways post-digital
@3PARA@TheParachuteReg@16AirAssltBCT My dad was in the first wave of paras to land over the Rhine by Wesel that day. They thought they were going to die but the German AA was zeroed at high altitude for the bombers the previous night and they got in with much lighter casualties than feared.

#OTD My great-great-aunt Mildred Harnack was beheaded on Hitler’s direct order. Born in Milwaukee, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin & moved to Germany to pursue a PhD. As an American grad student in Berlin, she witnessed a rapid increase in Hitler's popularity. 1/12
