The tragedy is that some of the latter managed to trick some of the former into co-signing a letter that mingles both types of concerns, thereby giving credence to the latter, while undermining the credibility of the former. 2/2
There are, roughly speaking, two kinds of people with concerns related to AI: those who have real concerns (about inflated claims and other such unethical behaviour by humans), and those who have imaginary concerns (about god-like AI capabilities and other such nonsense). 1/2
@rikarends@utopiah@emilymbender What do you mean "at the speed the labs are going"? The supposedly most advanced "AI" system today has zero reasoning capabilities. What are we supposed to be concerned about exactly?
There never will be reliable automated tools capable of discerning texts written by AI/ML from texts written by human beings. For if such tools would exist, the AI/ML could be set up to use these tools to learn how to compose compliant texts.
@marcelsalathe Their coordinated engagement is fascinating. I'm curious as to why they would want to follow you in particular. Is it random? Any ideas?
