A lot of funding arbitrage traders were destroyed by $TUT short squeeze today.
Funding arbitrage traders usually do not price in the x100 price movements within minutes. Hence, liquidations were triggered (fueling further price growth)
As such, many got burnt on a manipulative coin and lost funds.
As a rule of thumb that I would recommend sticking to - do not put all your money in one basket (here would be $TUT)
Spread your risk across various pairs and exchanges.
Yes, this will decrease the APR you earn. But you will earn and not get liquidated with higher chance (there is always a risk of 10/10 2.0)
Stay safe and profitable ๐ซก
Here are top 3 most stable delta neutral funding arbitrage plays I picked for the upcoming week:
#1 - LDO
Bybit long - Hyperliquid short
0.3% profit on total volume, which makes it ~3.6% APR with x1 leverage
I am going with x3 leverage, aiming at 10%+ APR
#2 - LTC
Binance long - Aster short
I love binance - aster pairs, as they tend to be super stable
0.275% profit on total volume, which makes it ~3.3% APR with x1 leverage
I am at x5 leverage here with a nice 16.5% APR on margin
#3 - PUMP
Aster long - Extended short
Short-term play around the PUMP high volatility, which causes funding rates spike and spreads grow.
I am at a x5 leverage here APR reaching 45%+ (past 7 days only)
Expecting PUMP to last the least among these three
will answer any questions in comments
@kucoincom has been dominating the top results for skewed funding rates on many tokens, including RWAs, large market caps (even BTC at some point)
Why is that so? My guess is that kucoin is popular in some specific areas and the difference in narrative in those areas result in differet funding rates on certain coins. Interesting to see how geolocation influences your mind and shapes your perspectives
My fresh post on funding arbitrage:
https://t.co/ZP7d5xOYnB
Most of the funding arbitrage I have been doing for the past few months has been coming from:
- Crime tokens (DEXE as one of the most popular example)
- Short-term narrative differences (one exchange has more users from Asia, another from Europe - causing different believes and directional difference)
- Fresh exchanges (mostly DEX's such as @nadoHQ@extendedapp@Lighter_xyz )
It is interesting to observe the impact of many different aspects on the funding rate
More on that soon...
