While engagement remains possible, the following principles must first be clearly affirmed:

👉🏾the sovereignty of the Somali state.

👉🏾the inviolability of Mogadishu's security.

👉🏾the 2026 constitution as the supreme legal framework; and the commitment to one person, one vote elections. Only then can constructive talks proceed.

#ALERT: Himilo Qaran Party Issues Political Warning to President Hassan Sheikh

The opposition Himilo Qaran Party, led by former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has issued a strong political warning to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, claiming that his authority will no longer be recognized after the next 30 days.

Speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu, Member of Parliament Yusuf Hussein Ahmed “Gama’diid,” the Secretary-General of Himilo Qaran, sharply criticized President Hassan Sheikh and expressed concerns over the country’s political direction.

Gama’diid argued that any orders issued by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud beyond the next 30 days would, in the party’s view, lack legal legitimacy. He further suggested that the president would no longer be operating from the presidential compound after that period.

In a strongly worded statement, Gama’diid also criticized recent security developments, stating: “For someone to claim, 48 hours later, that weapons collected by Macalin Mahdi were seized from Sheikh Sharif is a very unfortunate situation.”

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Somalia, where opposition groups and government officials continue to disagree over governance, constitutional matters, and the country’s political future.

The Federal Government has not immediately responded to the statements made by Himilo Qaran officials.
