New York City elected a socialist mayor, and the Knicks won their first championship in 53 years. Imagine what we could do with a socialist governor in Wisconsin?

One of my favorite anecdotes from the build-up to this World Cup, which reveals so much about the collision between FIFA and U.S. cities.
The day a FIFA exec told Los Angeles that LA needed to be “put on the map.”

@timothywhite77@wmata@wmataGM Been like this since the morning too. Took me 45 minutes to get from Gallery Place to Woodley Park at 11:30. Absolute mess!
No one was better at what they do than Dan Bice.
He called out everyone. Everyone was his source. He broke more news than anyone else in Wisconsin.
Republican, Democrat and everyone in between came to Dan. He was thorough. He was fair. He was a pro.
He will be missed.
@MollyBeck Wow, very sad indeed. Dan has been a force in Wisconsin journalism my whole life and always found a way to cut through the noise.
My condolences to you and the whole MJS team and prayers for his family.
The IRL connection economy is a $400B+ market.
And companies are racing to own it.
In the last 6 months, $800M+ in capital was deployed on "IRL" bets.
@Tinder invested $60M into a new Events feature for connecting matches in-person. They're pivoting to IRL and offering experiences such as speakeasies, raves, and pottery classes.
@222place: raised a $10.1M Series A to curate blind social experiences for Gen Z. Personality-matched groups sent to hyperlocal nightlife events.
@JagermeisterUSA launched BestNightsVC - the only venture fund in the world dedicated solely to nightlife and IRL connection. 16 portfolio companies across 4 continents.
@timeleft: dinner with 5 strangers, every Wednesday. €18M ARR. 6,500 dinners/week across 200+ cities.
Dion: members-only social app where the first move is buying someone a real drink, redeemed IRL. 10K members, 30K+ on the waitlist founded by @revekkapal.
Pie: Bonobos founder @dunn built an IRL friendship app. $24M raised. 130K+ MAU.
@weroad_official: group trips for 20-30 year olds who don't know each other beforehand. $150M valuation.
Matchbox: is an algorithm-powered matching platform for IRL events and has powered over 100,000 connections. founded by @liamjmcgregor (prev @MarriagePact)
New dating apps like Known @Celesteamadon, Cerca @MylesCerca, and Ditto @AllenWangzian are aiming to improve connection amongst young people.
Billion-dollar companies are paying $$$ for community and events leads:
- @AnthropicAI: Marketing Events Manager ($255k)
- @tryramp: Community Manager ($223k)
- @tryramp: Events & Culture Manager ($181k)
- @duolingo: Senior Community Manager ($193k)

Everyone knows the more time we spend online, the more valuable real-life connection becomes.
The question isn't whether IRL wins.
It's who facilitates it best.
•The U.S. Senate may hold a floor vote TODAY which would overturn a 20-year moratorium on sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest land in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) Wilderness in northern Minnesota. The Boundary Waters is the most visited Wilderness in the United States.
🛶 Enjoying the Minnesotan/Canadian wilderness by canoe or other lesser watercraft is one of our nations greatest available pastimes, and one I have personally enjoyed my entire life. We must protect these public lands from the rapacious capitalists threatening to turn them into a poisoned wasteland.
•This vote in Congress would open the door to copper mining at the headwaters of this entire ecosystem. This kind of mining produces toxic pollution, including acid runoff and heavy metals, that can contaminate nearby waters.
•The Boundary Waters supports a major outdoor economy that sustains thousands of jobs and generates over a billion dollars a year - built on clean water and intact public lands. But this vote would clear the way for toxic mining that puts all of that at risk. It would also set a dangerous precedent, making it easier to roll back protections for public lands across the country, including wilderness areas, national monuments, and national parks.
•This is a defining moment. If you care about clean water, public lands, and protecting places we can’t replace, now is the time to speak up.
•Protect the Boundary Waters, and vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140. Let’s save this treasured place for all of us—forever. https://t.co/JhNAR6Za2O
@DKThomp Agree. Advanced metrics from devices like Oura/Whoop can have practical grounding in research contexts but feel unnecessary for personal accountability. If you need a $400 ring to tell you that you slept poorly after a night of drinking, you’re just outsourcing common sense.
Milwaukee has arrived on the global culinary stage.
The @MichelinUSA Guide is coming to the Great Lakes, placing MKE alongside five peer cities in a historic regional debut.
Inspectors are already here. The world is watching.

The NBA has informed teams that the league is projecting a $165 million salary cap for 2026-27 -- $1M lower than previous outlooks due to a reduction in local media revenue, sources tell ESPN. Minimum salary $149M, tax level $201M, first apron $209M, second apron $222M also $1M lower each.
Marketing Crimson Desert as a “single-player MMO” is funny because yes you’re right, I AM in the market for a game that’s a mile wide and an inch deep with one dimensional characters, confusing UI, and pointless missions without any of the fun social dynamics
