What type of CV is appropriate for a job like below? A 1-page industry style CV, or a condensed version of an academic CV?
Hard to know if publications are critical, or if emphasis on technical skills and previous research experience is more important?
#academia to #industry
@Simon_Hammann I focus on being open to opportunities that come my way and that my efforts, even if if they don’t count at the time, are going to be useful some day. Accepting that I may leave academia earlier than I’d like and giving it space helps me think about an alternative future.
@DrBaoNguyen@AcademicParents@Momademia Congrats Bao! Can’t believe how quickly time has passed since that project!! You were a real inspiration for me during my time as an RA, and I still think you are so amazing!
@PhDVoice@PostdocVoice It may not be an issue with language, but rather about decisions that have been made (without your input) about authorship. This isn’t okay, and a discussion about contributions and authorship should be had. You’ll know where the issue lies once this is sorted out.
@LizzieCoker In some instances a change in authorship would be appropriate. In my current situation I’m quite happy to stay where I am, but would prefer not be tasked with things that shouldn’t fall to me! 😅
@LizzieCoker@AcademicChatter Having said that, the senior author on the paper just wants everyone to address the comments and send them their way for them to collate and resubmit - i.e., we will see everyone else’s suggestions/responses, except the final version… 🫠
@LizzieCoker@AcademicChatter 100% agree. It seems all the responses are in line with what I’ve experienced in the past and what I generally believe to be the way things are/should be done. My current situation deviates significantly from above and had me thinking whether it was me or the situation.
@Sanyiikoo_Oromo@AcademicChatter There’s definitely a place for discussing/re-discussing authorship if the workload/contributions have evolved. In this case, I’m not interested in moving authorship position. Rather, I would like to see the senior (corresponding) author take some responsibility.
@Corvid189592286 @AcademicChatter Yes, I have already given feedback and help where needed. I will also make sure I’ve seen the final changes and responses prior to resubmission.
@Mariola87880133@AcademicChatter Yes, I agree there are instances where middle authors could be delegated with addressing comments. In this instance, I rewrote parts of the manuscript mainly for clarity and grammar. I’m happy to have input if asked, but feel that I shouldn’t be tasked to do the revisions.
