As a civilisation, Bharat created world class institutions that created knowledge systems and kept it the leading economy till the 19th century.
The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan Bill 2025 is a landmark reform in the education system that aims to create a dynamic network of HEIs in the country, where they work in coordination to achieve the highest standards of excellence, building on transparency and social responsibility, on the one hand, and attain creative autonomy to become multidisciplinary hubs of knowledge creation, skill development, research, enterprise & entrepreneurship, and source of value generation.
In short, to let education lead the industry rather than chase it.
I share some thoughts on the DD morning show.

@DhananjayaJnu Systematic targeting of the education minister is a shameful attempt to defame the government. After failing to find a legitimate scapegoat for 12 years, they’ve resorted to low political tactics.
It’s abominable to see a concerted smearing campaign against the Union Minister of Education.
In this case, as is evident, namesakes, two different individuals with same name- one unknown to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and another known to him- have been misappropriated with a nefarious design to fabricate a fraudulent narrative.
It’s an absolute fraud to claim that Rajendra Mohapatra, whose spouse is Komal Mohapatra, owner of a house in Melrose, USA, is linked to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister.
The Rajendra Mohapatra, known to the Dharmendra Pradhan and his family, is Rajendra Kumar Mohapatra, husband of Aarti Mohapatra, a native of Manikamara, Dharmpur, Talcher, Angul, Odisha.
Rajendra Kumar Mohapatra of Manikamara, Odisha, is being deliberately mixed up with Rajendra Mohapatra of Melrose with an attempt to create a baseless conjecture with malicious intent!
The nation deserves constructive dialogues on making education system resilient and hurdle-free rather than toxic personal attacks aimed at undermining the public trust in a leader!

It is preferable to trust a system that is equitable and responds with transparency, is committed to reforms and stands in solidarity with parents and students than to harbour a nostalgia for the pre-NEET era, when a free-for-all scenario existed for medical seats to be secured under college and management quotas by those with access and resources.

The Indian Council of Social Science Research organised the inaugural talk as a part of its new ICSSR Research Talk Series initiative. Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour & Employment, and Youth & Sports, Government of India, delivered the talk on “Public Healthcare in India: Moving Towards Viksit Bharat@2047", emphasising the importance of research for scholars, academics, and other stakeholders in government and academia who aspire to make India a Viksit Bharat.
The management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Government of India, by integrating modern scientific advancements with the traditional medicinal knowledge, which is also a subject of research by him, was the highlight of the talk. Hon’ble Minister referred to the country’s rapid development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as India’s support to over 100 nations, as rooted in India’s civilisational ethos of Seva and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Hon’ble Minister underlined the need for a decolonised multidisciplinary research vision and data-centric approach, beyond academic publications, to build a robust and holistic public healthcare system for #ViksitBharat@2047. He highlighted the relevance of Malam Ni Pothi, a pre-modern manual handwritten and compiled by Malams (sailor communities) in the Kutch region of Gujarat, recording the concepts and techniques of navigation, daily sailing, voyages and other sea-faring details as a tangible resource of Bharat’s traditional knowledge in shipping and navigation. He also referred to Charaka Samhita as a holistic example of India’s understanding of medicine, healthcare and well-being.
Hon’ble Minister called for research rooted in national priorities, cultural values, and interdisciplinarity towards the realisation of Vision Viksit Bharat 2047.

LIVE | Addressing the 58th Foundation Day of ICSSR | “Decolonising Social Science Research: Reclaiming Bharat’s Intellectual Heritage” https://t.co/tiTng5n7mf
