@TheAthleticFC Surely the point here is that England have shown they *can* play like that. Don't need that level of intensity for full 90, every game.
Typically at tournaments, England lack two things - control, and variety. Being able to go Full Prem, at times, gives us both.

John Stones and Ezri Konsa are favoured to start over Marc Guehi in defence.
Official attendance figures reflect the number of tickets scanned and spectators present within the stadium footprint, rather than visual assessments of seating occupancy at any given moment during the match. FIFA works closely with stadium authorities and ticketing teams to ensure all published figures are based on verified operational data.
Please note that, during last nightโs match in Guadalajara, several ticketed fans could be seen standing in concourses rather than staying in their assigned seats throughout the match.
@leemartin8@LukeEdwardsTele ..but clubs are just addicted to transfers. As are most fans these days, and the 24/7 Sky Sports, Fabrizio "here we go" just feeds the beast.
@leemartin8@LukeEdwardsTele Take your point to an extent, but just spending money guarantees nothing (other than PSR trouble)
Look at this season - was signing both Woltemade AND Wissa necessary?
Sign one to replace Isak, keep within the PSR breathing room, no need to then sell next Elliot Anderson
NEW: Ben Stokes' future as England Test captain is in doubt after it was announced that he and Gus Atkinson are being investigated by the ECB for an undisclosed "incident" at a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.
It is understood neither Stokes nor Atkinson were hurt in the incident, which also involved players from Saracens rugby club as part of their end-of-season celebrations.
ESPNcricinfo understands the incident, described by the ECB as "a breach of team protocols", is serious enough for Stokes to be considering his position as captain.
Former journalist here who's spent the last few years working close to data scientists and building my own notebooks. Built a dashboard tracking all 1,248 players at the #WorldCup2026 (biggest ever). 48 squads. Heights, ages, โฌ20 billion in squad value.
What the data says ๐งต
Dan Burn looks like he's won a competition to play for England, he's slow, his first touch is awful; he's not even that good in the air.
Ivan Toney has the technique - but looks a lot like a bloke who's been playing Sunday league (for 400k/wk) for two years.
@Tactx_ What I never understood / saw analysed is why England were so terrible at Euro '24.
Especially after starting well v Serbia - first half was great, second half (and all subsequent games) turgid mess.
A decent shot-stopper, but has a few mistakes in him; coming from the south coast with a mix of Champ and L1 experience -his previous club's fans not exactly gutted to see him leave..
..have we just signed Will Norris again?
Northern Ireland international Conor Hazard will be our first new signing of the summer transfer window, with the goalkeeper agreeing to join us on July 1st.
Welcome to Wycombe, Conor! ๐งค
...arguable that only one is a true CF
Given that a) scoring goals is quite important to winning games of association football, and b) this is not a new problem ..
Where is the solution here?
What are we waiting for?
Almost 500 days ago, we rejected Luton bids for Richard Kone.
It was pretty obvious to everyone that he would be off - and when he eventually departed mid-August 2025, we then sold Dan Udoh a few days later.
Since then - two loan centre-forwards have been signed, and it's...
