These were not made-up stories, but rather actual experiences that elders wished to pass on. This moment calls on this generation to assume their positions as aspiring elders, & leaders of the community as even younger generations are in need of a guiding light

Identity is survived by the stories our communities did not give up telling.
Stories loaded with moments that call for perseverance, characters who stick to their principles at all costs & families who refuse to give up on each other, defying logic.

Nana is inspired by our grandmother in Tigray whom we haven't spoken to in months. It's the ache of missing her and many of our families that the stories came pouring out. It's our way of keeping in touch, showing them that we think of them every day.

We hope to create stories for a generation of thinkers, builders, and imaginers. It's a difficult time in our history but our lives are so much more than this one difficult moment. Our story is a story of resilience.

This beautifully haunting song was recorded in #Sudan Um Rakuba #refugee camp, where a young girl sings about #Tigray.
Even in such hardship, music and storytelling anchors identity building #resiliance.
Hey everyone, please follow @adeybooks. I have always wanted someone who would write books for our children. Someone who understands our culture and language very well. This is crucial and looking forward to see the products.
But many around the world are robbed of this right due to violence, conflict, or genocide.
As Tigrayans, we find that holding space to the culture that raised us has given us hope when so much hope has been taken away.

The right to participate in cultural life, to enjoy culture, and the freedom of expression and assembly is a human right.
