UNHCR is still not publishing correct data about what is happening in Tigray. The lower amount of IDPs in 2022 is not because their were less people on the run, but because IOM just didn't count the ones in Tigray (2 million at the time).

The Queen of Sheba is also known locally as Makeda. The name of her birth place Gulo Makada in #Tigray is derived from her name. Archeologists uncovered the ruins of her palace & evidence of sophisticated community residing in Gulo Makada for 3,000 years.
Today, it was reported that Eritrean troops abducted 26 civilians from Gulo Makada.

We are hearing about numbers of people dying of hunger, in Tigray. No food aid, crop failure, many displaced, etc.The images we have seen in, the social media are alarming. How many people are actually hungry? How many have died? Who is counting, compiling and reporting?
🧵 On the murder of #ZewduHaftu 💔
On Aug 20, 2023, two young Tigrayan women, Zewdu Haftu and Semhal Geberezgher were walking together in Mekelle, Tigray. At 7 p.m., military men in a patrol car stopped them near Desta Hotel.
The devastating civil war in #Tigray ended just over a year ago. The @CVTorg Ethiopia team continue to provide humanitarian services to displaced and traumatized civilians. Check out this report from Medhanye Alem from our Tigray team.⬇️🇪🇹 https://t.co/8OpOxDSRYU
“We need dialogue so that no child is exposed to conflict anymore, so no mothers cry and live in sorrow anymore,” writes Medhanye Alem, psychotherapist/trainer, CVT Ethiopia. Full article ⬇️

More than 100,000 women may have been raped during the 2 years of war on #Tigray.
They have been victimized twice, once during the war, and a second time by their own communities, even after a cease-fire a year ago quieted the hostilities.

Unfortunately, the violence in Israel and Gaza is not unparalleled. Not even close. Secretary General Guterres must have a short memory - over 500,000 have died in the conflict in #Tigray and Northern Ethiopia since 2020, the vast majority of which have been civilians. (1/2)

It's been a year since the #Tigray peace agreement was reached.
A year later - humanitarian supplies remain limited, and Eritrean and Amhara forces are still occupying part of the region and perpetrating atrocities.
The 6+ million people who survived a brutal two-year siege deserve peace, health, and well-being.

🕯️ Nov 4, 2023, marks the 3rd year commemorating the Tigray Genocide. Our commitment to the people of Tigray is unshakable. We will persist until justice prevails, and their voices are heard. #3yrTigrayGenocideRemembrance#NeverForget
