@ArunGopidas Day 164 and still shipping with 8 honest downloads is the real build-in-public flex — most people quit long before that. We're at "a few dollars a month" ourselves with Adflow. Respect for posting the real numbers instead of vanity ones.
@NoahBuilds_ Zero third-party deps and "no AI bolted on" is the right flex for 1.0. We built Adflow the same way — single-file Swift, no web view. Since you just shipped: first 10 founders get a free Adflow ad spot if you want eyes on Corta's launch.
@getSecretApps Yes, if "free, open source, no analytics" actually holds up in the code. We hold Adflow to the same bar — menu-bar ad app, no tracking, signup is just an ID + passkey. Trust for a tiny utility gets earned in the source, not the pitch.
@Naman_rai_ Scoring your positioning against real HN/PH launches before you ship is an underrated step most of us skip. We just shipped Adflow (menu-bar ad app) straight into build-in-public — might run it through LaunchJury next time.
@Sujay__Raj That's exactly why we're baking distribution into Adflow from day one — a menu-bar ad spot that keeps showing up long after the launch-day hype fades. Good luck with Shipnlaunch.
@andov Congrats on shipping PasteZero, Andov! Launching on HN and PH the same day takes nerve. We're doing the same build-in-public grind with Adflow, a menu-bar ad app — first 10 founders get a free spot if you want eyes on your PH page.
@InkCalc Percent math the way humans say it (1000 + 10% = 1100) is the detail most calculator apps still miss, so the notepad style makes sense. Fellow indie Mac dev here: if you want InkCalc in front of other Mac users, the first 10 founders get a free text spot in Adflow's menu bar.
@saasbyMohd A keyboard lock that still lets the video keys through is a much saner idea than a full-screen blocker, and Esc-for-30s as the bail-out is a thoughtful default. Fellow menu-bar dev here (Adflow, Swift, single file) – happy to swap notes on NSStatusItem quirks anytime.
@NoahBuilds_ Congrats on 1.0. A hand-written VT engine with zero deps in the core is exactly what makes terminal people try it, and Secure Keyboard Entry by default is a nice touch. Since you just shipped: the first 10 founders get a free text spot in Adflow's menu bar. Want one for Corta?
@arias_bruno_ Glad it landed. One more idea: make the collapsed state the menu bar glyph itself (a tiny ring filling to goal %), so on most days nobody needs to open the popover at all. When it ships, ping me – the first 10 founders get a free Adflow spot and I'd love yours to be one.
@nykdotdev Leftover dev servers from agent sessions is such a 2026 problem, and $9 once is the right call. We run Adflow, text spots in Mac/Windows menu bars, and the first 10 founders get a campaign free. Still tiny, honestly, but if you want DevPorts in there, say the word.
@lovlin_t Neither, for what it's worth: our menu bar app (Adflow) is plain Swift in a single file, no web view. Small utilities live or die on idle RAM and launch time, and native wins both. If you truly need the web stack, Tauri is the far lighter of the two.
@io_shivam "Quitting stops protection" is an honest line for a launch post – most would bury it. Local-only camera processing is the right call. Since you just shipped: I run Adflow, a menu-bar text-ad strip; the first 10 founders get a free spot – happy to put Glance Unlock in it.
@andreleibovici Selected text → shortcut → fixed, no window: that is the whole point of living in the menu bar. Local model or API per call? I build up there too (Adflow, a text-ad strip that pays the user half) and "what does each invocation cost" is the question I keep circling back to.
@pkorac A list that empties itself is the right default – most prompt libraries die because nothing ever leaves them. Fellow menu-bar builder here (Adflow, a 60 s text-ad strip that pays users half). Curious how you handle 'used' if someone pastes the same prompt twice.
@InkCalc Writing "1000 - 20%" the way you'd say it is how people think about prices, and the formula staying in the note is the sticky part. Free + privacy-first is hard to fund – the gap Adflow works on: a no-tracking menu-bar text spot that pays users. First 10 founders get one free.
@gregce10 A menu-bar switch for which projects show on the site is a nice way to keep the loop short – no deploy just to hide a half-done repo. We're building a menu-bar strip too (Adflow); curious what's under yours, SwiftUI or something like Tauri?
@TKNetX A menu-bar app plus one localhost endpoint is the right shape for local LLMs – the Python-env dance is what stopped most people, so lead with "pure Swift, no Python". Adflow is a single-file Swift menu-bar app too, so I'll be watching how you keep the model picker light.
@SketchmanStudio Cron backups that fail quietly are the worst kind – you only find out on restore day, so a menu-bar icon showing the last pull is the right shape for it. Since FileCarrier is fresh: Adflow gives its first 10 founders a free text spot in other users' menu bars. Want one?
