Why I think mental health should be taught in school (a thread)
- it can enable schoolchildren to become more compassionate to others. They’ll be more understanding of the impact and weight from their actions and words
No one should be shamed for asking help!
No one should be laughed at when they ask for help.
No one should be easily dismissed when they are seeking help.
It takes a lot of courage to ask other people for help and if you don't treat them right, they have no where else to go
The problem with adhd is - to be happy we need to be able to do what we want whenever we want it…so school/work/family restrictions on timing and what we can/cannot do kills us and that’s that on that
Feelings in ADHD can be hard to manage, but this isn't our fault nor something we can always control by sheer will.
In ADHD, the neural pathway between the limbic system (where feelings originate) and the prefrontal cortex (what controls them) is affected. 1/
#askadhd does anybody else find that if they don’t wake up at a certain time/ if they accidentally sleep in, their day starts as being very anxious and feeling out of it? I find it very hard to get myself back on track
@aintladylazarus @AskADHD Right it feels like instant chaos as soon as u open your eyes! For me I won’t even really be awake yet but I’ll already be panicking
ADHD is more than “not being able to focus.” i constantly lose things because of it, difficulty driving, have trouble regulating my emotions which plays a HUGE role in my daily life, constant inner energy that drains me, horrible time management and disorganization
