The Biden team admired Trump's maximum pressure, and disowned JCPOA to follow the same path when it first came to office. Now by embracing Trump's language that the war started in 1979, that we are just at the end point of a pre-determined history with no exit ramps along the way, it is showing that it has no policy vision of its own, no foreign policy history that it wants to defend, and in fact is hoping to avoid a reckoning with its own record with Iran.
In reality history is not a straight jacket, we have not been at war since 1979, and there were many exit ramps that both sides (including the Biden administration) could have taken that could have resulted in a different outcome. I wrote about this here: https://t.co/DlJUdsK93I
Their absence of self-awareness is a serious pathology. They just killed 3k civilians (really, civilians) and are complaining that their invading soldiers are facing some risks WHILE INVADING.
As the internet is reopened in Iran, more images are coming out of what actually happened during the war.
The internet blockage also meant that most Iranians did not see how supporters of Reza Pahlavi were dancing and cheering the war from the safety of Western capitals...
META sent me an AI message flagging my Facebook profile, saying it will no longer be promoted because of "lack of original content." This was part of my response to them:
"You are flagging my profile, claiming I put up unoriginal content. Clearly, your AI leaves much to be desired. The majority of my posts are either A) videos of interviews I have given to mainstream and alternative media, so BY DEFINITION, it is ORIGINAL content. I created it. And B) it is me providing ANALYSIS of news, which is my job as the co-head of a think tank. Again, by definition, it is original.
If you want to ban me because I am critical of Israeli policies, then just say so instead of hiding behind these insulting pretexts.
Happening now: Garden Grove city council getting hammered by residents after the chemical disaster by GKN’s weapons manufacturing facility, which supplies key components for Israel’s fighting jets.
They are demanding the city permanently shuts down the facility.
Mearsheimer: War is the predictable consequence when one great power establishes itself on the border of another great power. What was previously common sense has now become controversial...
Israeli minister Ben Gvir says Trump's deal with Iran is "bad for Israel" and that Israel will not "allow" it.
Let that sink in.
And remember this clip next time someone claims that a factual conversation about the Israeli government's influence in DC is off-limits...
John Mearsheimer: "It's not just Israeli leaders who support the genocide. You don't see any protest among the Israeli public. It's shocking. It's sickening. You have to file all this under the Nazification of Israel. They are like the Germans under Hitler."
Indeed, it looks like Reza Pahlavi even lost Ali Karimi today, the former soccer star turned monarchist.
Pahlavi is completing his transformation into Masoud Rajavi of the 1980s, and what remains on his "movement" is morphing into a full on MEK-style cult.
IMPORTANT!
Just before Trump met with Xi, Iranian news services reported that Chinese ships had begun transiting the Strait of Hormuz, under the Iranian mechanism. While Beijing rejects a toll, it has been open to paying an administrative fee for the environmental upkeep of the Strait. (Which is just another way to frame the toll...)
This agreement neutralizes American pressure on China to side with the US to "open" the Strait since the waterway is open to China.
In fact, it reverses the pressure. If the US stops these ships from transiting as part of the American blockade, Trump will be picking a losing fight with Xi. While in Beijing.
Instead of Trump pressuring China to help open the Strait, China will pressure the US to make sure the Strait isn't blocked for Chinese ships.
This is yet another way in which Trump's adoption of FDD's proposal for a blockade of the blockade is backfiring on the US.
The sooner Trump stops listening to FDD and its allies, the safer America will become.
